Melbourne Festival is one of the world’s most
respected and acclaimed annual multi-arts events. It is
heralded for its global reach, its wholehearted support
of international and Australian artists, and its ability to
connect community and culture. Melbourne Festival
proudly promotes the work of approximately 1,000
artists each year.
Captivating the city for 17 days across multiple venues each
October, the Festival is an unparalleled feast of dance, film,
theatre, visual arts, music, multimedia and outdoor events.
First staged in 1986, Melbourne Festival has a proud history
that has consistently evolved to reflect and stimulate the
life, character and spirit of Melbourne as a creative capital.
With an exceptional first year of a three year tenure as
Creative Director in 2013, Josephine Ridge promises an
equally exciting program line-up in 2014. We look forward
to celebrating the city’s cultural history and offering a
window to Melbourne’s artistic future.
