Assistant coach Heather Brink enters her third season with the
Nebraska women's gymnastics program in 2014. An 11-time AllAmerican at NU, Brink is the Huskers’ beam coach and assists with
floor choreography as well as numerous other responsibilities
including recruiting, travel accommodations and academics.
Brink contributed to Nebraska’s continued success in the 2013
season, as the Huskers claimed 13 beam titles including the Big
Ten Championship shared by Emily Wong and Jennifer Lauer with
an identical score of 9.90. Wong went on to claim second-team
All-America accolades on the event.
In her first season as an assistant with the Huskers, Brink
helped coach Wong to first-team All-America honors on beam.
Brink's assistance with NU's floor routines also guided Jessie
DeZiel to first-team All-America honors and Wong to secondteam honors on the event.
Brink, who competed for the Huskers from 1997 to 2000,
permanently etched her name in the Nebraska record books by
winning two national titles at the 2000 NCAA Championships
in Boise, Idaho. Brink became the first Husker female to win an
all-around national title and the second to win a vault national
title in leading the Huskers to the Super Six Finals and a fourthplace national finish.
Brink was selected as the Honda Award winner in 2000,
representing the nation’s top female collegiate gymnast. She
holds numerous Nebraska individual records, including seventh
on the all-time all-around scores list. Brink became the first
Husker gymnast to score a 10.0, eventually recording three
perfect scores during her senior season. She closed her collegiate
career as one of the most decorated gymnasts in school history,
earning two NCAA titles, 11 All-America awards, six regional
titles and eight conference crowns.
Prior to joining the Nebraska staff, Brink worked for Ameritas
in Lincoln as a pension administration specialist.
Brink is a 2001 graduate of Nebraska with a bachelor of
science degree in business adminstration and human resource
management. Heather and her husband, Jon, have two sons,
Jaxon (7) and Hunter (2).

Assistant coach Dan Miller enters his third season with the
Nebraska women's gymnastics program in 2014. Miller coaches
Nebraska's vault and floor squads.
Miller helped Nebraska’s vault and floor lineups continue to
dominate in 2013. At the Big Ten Championships the Huskers
posted four individual vault scores of 9.95 and a team-high
score of 49.725, which helped secure the Huskers the Big
Ten Conference title. Miller guided Britanny Skinner to her
individual vault appearance at the NCAA Championships and
Emily Wong and Jessie Deziel to earn All-America awards. Wong
on floor, vault, and the all-around, and Deziel in the all-around.
During his first season at Nebraska in 2012, Miller guided
DeZiel to first-team All-America honors on floor and second14 | NEBRASKA WOMEN’S GYMNASTICS | 2014
team honors on vault. He also assisted in the development of
Janelle Giblin, who earned first-team honors on vault, and
Emily Wong, who earned second-team honors on floor exercise.
Under Miller's tutelage, the Huskers garnered a total of 15 floor
titles and 14 vault titles throughout 2012.
Prior to joining the Nebraska staff, Miller served as owner
and head coach for 12 years at Arena Gymnastics in Joliet, Ill.
While at Arena, he coached over 50 Level 10 national qualifiers
and 16 national team members. In addition, he has guided six
gymnasts to Level 10 all-around championships and qualified
more than 20 gymnasts to the Region 5 All-Star Teams. With
over 30 years of coaching experience, Miller has seen more than
30 athletes receive full-ride scholarships.
In addition to his tenure at Arena, Miller served on the
Region 5 Board and as the Region 5 Camp Director for over 10
years. He has been honored six times as the Region 5 Junior
Olympic Coach of the Year and has been awarded the five-and
10-year service award from USA Gymnastics. Miller also served
as a coach at Cincinnati Gymnastics and Midwest Gymnastics.
Dan and his wife, Beth, have two sons: Brandon (12) and Kyle
(10).
