Schaaf returned to all-around competiton for the 2013 season. He competed in all six events during six of the eight regular season meets, consistently finishing with an all-around score of 80.40 or higher. The Houston native set four personal best scores throughout the season. He notched a career-best 83.90 in the all-around at home against Oklahoma. He also set new career records on pommel horse (14.05), parallel bars (14.70) and high bar (14.35) throughout the year. During the postseason, Schaaf competed as an all-arounder for the Huskers at the Big Ten Championships. The junior had a personal best performance for the season on vault, earning a 14.50. A standout in the classroom, Schaaf earned multiple academic awards during the 2013 season, including first-team CGA Academic All-American honors. He also received the Big Ten Distinguished Scholar award and made the Nebraska ScholarAthlete Honor Roll during both the fall and spring semesters. 2012 (Sophomore) Schaaf was the only Husker to compete on pommel horse at every meet in 2012. He produced a then career-high 13.70 at the Big Ten Championships in Iowa City, Iowa. Schaaf was also one of two Huskers to compete in the still rings lineups the entire season. He opened the 2012 campaign with a career-best 14.50 at the Rocky Mountain Open in Colorado Springs. He produced six scores of 13.50 or higher in the event during the season, including a 13.90 at the Big Ten Championships and
