The junior posted a career-high 14.90 on rings on March 3, 2013 at home against Oklahoma. He matched his personal best at Nebraska’s last regular-season meet of the year, ending the year with all eight scores above a 14.00. The Waterford, Wis. native competed for the Huskers at both the Big Ten Championships and NCAA Team Qualifiers. In Minneapolis, Arndt posted a 14.75 on rings. His score placed him at 13th overall at Big Ten Championships. Arndt struggled to excel in State College, Penn., finishing his season with a 14.20 score. Continuing to show strength in the classroom, Arndt earned academic All-Big Ten honors for a second year in a row. The junior specialist also earned a spot as a second-team academic All-American. He continued to excel academically, claiming spots on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll for both semesters of the 2012-13 school year. 2012 (Sophomore) After a standout freshman campaign for the Huskers, Arndt continued to perform at a high level for NU, competing in the still rings and pommel horse throughout the season and reaching the NCAA Individual Semifinals in the still rings competition. The native of Waterford, Wis. excelled in the still rings competition during the season, scoring above 14.00 on 10 occasions. Arndt was at his best against Iowa on March 24, as well as the Big Ten Championships on April 6, when he scored 14.75 at both meets. At season’s end, Arndt continued to perform well for the Huskers, scoring a 14.10 in the still rings, as well as a 13.70 on the pommel horse at the NCAA Team Qualifier tournament. Arndt went on to score a 14.20 at the NCAA Individual Semifinals in his final competition of the season. Also a standout in the classroom, Arndt was one of eight members of the Husker men’s gymnastics team to earn academic All-Big Ten honors. He also claimed a spot on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall of 2011. 2011 (Freshman) Arndt produced a solid freshman campaign as a still rings specialist for the Huskers in 2011. He scored 12.70 or better on rings in all nine of his competitions during the season, including a then career-best 14.80 against Oklahoma and IllinoisChicago on Feb. 13. Arndt received four scores of 14.00 or better, and closed the regular season with a 14.50 on rings in Nebraska’s triangular victory over Iowa and Minnesota at the Devaney Center on March 19. Arndt did not compete at the MPSF Championships, but he did score a 13.30 for the Huskers on rings at the 2011 NCAA Team Qualifier in Columbus, Ohio, on April 14. Although he only competed on still rings for the Huskers as a freshman, he also trained on pommel horse, vault and floor exercise. In the classroom, Arndt earned a spot on the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll in the fall of 2010. Before Nebraska Arndt graduated from Muskego (Wis.) High School and was a four-year honor roll selection. As a member of the high school gymnastics team, he was coached by Brad LeClair. Personal The son of Jeff Arndt and Darlene Reinke, Donavan was born March 2, 1992, in Waukesha, Wis. Donovan has a twin brother, Taylor. An accounting major, Arndt earned academic All-Big Ten honors in 2012, while also claiming spot on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall of 2011 and the fall and spring semesters of 2012-13. He was a Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll selection in the fall of 2010.
