Happiness Michelle Scott Class of 2014 First Place Literature Troubles are scarce nowadays The trials and tribulations of the past are gone I have seen so many things that fill me With a bubbly and light burst of laughter The sun shines at all times Even the storms have their joy The booming and rolling thunder Complements the flash of lightning The stinging bees have the flowers Blooming and opening thirstily to the sky The tumultuous ocean is filled With teeming, colorful life Days of sorrow are overcast By the hope that lingers humidly With fingers of lace, the clouds stretch Filling the gaping maw of sky The sweet aroma of love lingers Consuming the hearts of the young Turning the fatigue of life To a fresh, springing fire The fire of passion burns away the doubt The days are long and fulfilling The slender slight of a smile Arises in the midst of chaos ** 2nd Place Visual Arts 15
