Football Boys’
Boys’ football has had a productive year in 2014. This
year we had six teams in the local competition, three
senior teams and three junior teams.
The Junior A team had a hard year with many top teams
in their division, but they soldiers though. As the season
when along, the team came together and the scores
against them became less and less.
The Junior B and Junior C teams had a bit better seasons
with them coming a respective 6th and 2nd in their own
divisions. So no one can say that we don’t have potential
in this sport at junior level.
The senior teams, which were made up of the 1st XI, 2nd
XI and the 3rd XI (a Year 13 social team) all had their own
successes.
This year the 1st XI showed why they should be in
division one as not only did they come third over all this
season in the local competition, but made it in the LOTTO
Preimere tournament. This was held in Napier this year.
They started off well by winning many of the games in
their pool. But as normal in tournament the weather was
wet and could only be called down right miserable.
Overall the team kept their heads held high and
ended the tournament in 23rd place. This is still an
outstanding result as the team has not qualifed for this
tournament before.
I would like to thank all of the staff, parents, coaches and
managers for all of the help and time that you have given
to these teams over the season. I know that the students
are very greatful, as I am, as I know that we would not
have been able to have so many teams without you all.
