Chuck Sekyra is in his 12th season as head coach for the Falcons and has
guided SPU to a remarkable record of 208-32-19 winning eight conference
titles and advancing his team into the NCAA national tournament in each
of the 11 previous campaigns. Sekyra led SPU to the 2008 national title.
This year the Falcons have been led by forward Hannah Huesers and
midfielder Isabel Farrell. Huesers leads SPU and the GNAC in scoring with
14 goals and 29 points. Her goal total is nearly twice as many as anyone
else in the GNAC. Farrell has seven goals and seven assists.
Other standouts have included midfielders Laura Moore and Alexa Diaz
and goalkeeper Alexa Hughes. Moore has four goals and seven assists, Diaz
has a goal and three assists and Hughes has a 0.90 GAA and has posted two
shutouts.

Overall Record: 15-0-3 GNAC: 11-0-3, 1st
Western Washington, which was ranked 14th nationally last week, is
one of the top defensive tea ms in Division II, leading the nation in goals
against average (0.21), save percentage (.941) and shutout percentage
(.777). Starting goalkeeper Ashley Hayden has given up just four goals and
has a .938 save percentage.
Among the standout defensive players for the Vikings are defender
Brianna Jones, who has three goals and two assists, and midfielder Kim
Cooper, who has also contributed three assists.
On offense WWU is led by forwards Jessica Bertucci and Catherine
Miles. Bertucci ranks sixth in the GNAC in points with 16 (6 goals, 4
assists) and Miles who is tied for eighth with 14 points, producing a teamhigh seven goals. Head coach Travis Connell is in his 12th season and has
a career record of 156-61-23.
