Education Professor Stephanie Cawthon, and Post Doctoral Research Faculty
Bridget Kiger Lee will share a step-by-step process for creating a research
and evaluation plan for arts and arts integrated programming based on

EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCES WITH THE
PERFORMANCE CYCLE
For nearly twenty years, The Performance Cycle, developed by the
ArtsLiteracy Project at Brown University, has provided a clear structure for
integrating performance and various art forms into numerous educational
settings in Brazil, Mexico, and the United States. Kurt Wootton, co-founder
of the ArtsLiteracy Project and director of Habla, a lab school in Mexico, will
introduce the Performance Cycle in a vigorous hands-on workshop. Wootton
will focus on ways we can recover our sense of theatrical play with adults and
students in schools and workplaces.
MASTER CLASS D: SUZAN ZEDER
Saturday, August 2nd
2-4:45 p.m.
THE ART OF GIVING AND RECEIVING FEEDBACK
One of the most neglected tools in the process of teaching Playwriting is
the art of giving and receiving effective feedback. Whether in a classroom,
a developmental workshop, or a post play discussion, we often make the
assumption that “discussing” a play is a simple task, yet nothing could be
farther from the truth. In this hands-on workshop, Susan Zeder will share
techniques, developed over decades of teaching, on to how to structure
feedback sessions that creatively involve an entire group by responding to
work within the metaphor of the play. Participants will be asked to submit
short plays (5-7 pages) that will become the touchstones for Feedback
experiences.
