N ETWO R K S NEW AATE NETWORK STRUCTURE AATE Members can now participate in one of eight refocused networks, working more closely with others in their specialty, creating local and national projects, sharing vital resources, and collaborating. The eight networks are: • The APPLIED THEATRE Network: Chair: Wendy Lement Individuals who use alternative theatre and/or drama practices with a wide variety of populations, often working in non-traditional performance settings and seeking to help others. • The COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY/RESEARCH Network: Chairs: Johanna Smith and Andrew Ryder Comprised of higher-education faculty members, independent scholars, and other individuals who teach at the post-secondary level and / or produce scholarship related to drama and theatre education. • The PROFESSIONAL THEATRE Network: Chairs: Rachel Hull and Ali Oliver-Krueger Artistic, administrative, education and / or community engagement staff members of organizations that focus on professionally produced theatrical experiences for a variety of ages. • The GRADES PREK-8 Network: Chair: Rachel Jamieson Members who primarily teach drama to primary, intermediate, and middle school / junior high students including drama specialists, elementary teachers, theatre directors, and teaching artists. • The HIGH SCHOOL Network: Chairs: Alicia Sanders and Steven Barker Secondary school teachers and others committed to providing for adolescent audiences, as well as resources like lesson plans, support for innovative classroom ideas, and theatre productions. SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS International Special Interest Group Thursday, July 31 9:45-11 a.m. Location: Atrium 2nd-Pikes Peak Theatre for the Very Young Special Interest Group Thursday, July 31 11:15 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Location: Atrium 2nd-Pikes Peak Professional Development Special Interest Group Thursday, July 31 2-3:15 p.m. Location: Atrium 2nd-Pikes Peak 7 • The PLAYWRITING Network: Chairs: John Newman and D.W. Gregory Playwrights who write plays for young people, and maintain a directory of plays by member writers, as well as producing the Unpublished Play Project and the Playwrights in Our Schools residencies. • The YOUTH THEATRE Network: Chairs: Wendy Maples and Nick Bazo Freelance teaching artists, artistic, administrative, and educational staff who create theatrical experiences / performances (scripted and/or devised) by youth artists for an audience. Join a new network, collaborate with others in your network or sign up to be a network chair. • The INTERNATIONAL SIG: Coordinator: Erica Hughes Comprising of AATE Members who are invested in international relationships, and sharing high quality artistry and education in our increasingly global society. • The THEATRE AND DRAMA FOR THE VERY YOUNG SIG: Coordinator: Katherine Breyer and Julia Krebs Patterson Comprising of AATE Members who create theatrical experiences for the very young, including infants and children from birth through approximately age five. • The PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SIG: Coordinator: Lara Dosset Comprising of AATE Members who meaningfully respond to the needs of teachers across the curriculum, arts educators, artists, administrators, and professional development providers and communities.
