BELSMUN CLUB
Model United Nations is a club in
which students demonstrate their
debating skills and internationalmindedness
by representing United
Nations countries in conferences.
Similar to the United Nations,
students participate in international
conferences as delegates in several
UN committees. Delegates make a
research about the political issues
of the countries they represent.
BELSMUN has been active for 2 years
with 19 students and 4 advisors.
This year 10 of our club members
participated in MilanMUN (Milan,
Italy) with 2 advisors between 10-
15 March. 8 of our club members
participated in MUNESCO (BLIS,
Ankara) with 2 advisors between
18- 21 March. Lastly, 5 of our club
members participated in RCIMUN
organized by Robert College
(İstanbul) with 1 advisor.
CHESS CLUB
Playing chess is a great tool for development of memory
and it helps development of problem solving skills very
much. As chess club, this year we aimed improvement
of analytical thinking and calculation skills of probability
of our students. We tried to make our students get
accustom to playing chess not only in the school but also
outside of the school. We arranged special tournaments
during the year and used our time effectively. Since it
is a collection of intellectual activities our students had
a chance to use their talent, creativity, competition,
collaborative work, and leadership skills. This year our
Turkish teacher Volkan Duran led the club and put so
much effort on it.
