COMPANY TOURS

On Friday, we visited the UT Arlington Data Center and the UTARI. At the Data Center, they showed us all their storing places and everything they had there. They showed us all their machines and computers. They told us about the information and all the number of gigabytes the computers held. They told us what they did in order to not lose all of the information and keep the systems running. The number of things and power those systems and computers hold is a lot and its incredible how it all works. Our next stop was the UTA Research Institute. At UTARI, they gave us a tour and talked to us about what they did. They showed us some of their work, which included robots! They told us how the robots worked and told us how they worked on them and what the prices were. Those robots are being worked on and designed to help disabled people do everyday tasks that unfortunately they can’ t do by themselves. I think what they are doing is really cool. It was a really interesting Friday, I enjoyed it a lot. Last week we went to the Baylor Cancer Center. We got a tour of their buildings and we got to see what went on there. We went up to the 17th floor on one of their building, which was the highest one. We went to their emergency room and while we were there, they were trying to revive a man. We didn’ t find out what happened to him, it was a sad thing. We also got to see the Smart Hospital here at UTA. It was nice to see how their sims worked and how they had everything close to what would be found at an actual hospital. After that we had a guest speaker. She talked to us about psychology and the different things in that field.- Diana Ramirez
