My Grandpa Roosevelt
“ I never got to give you a hug before an angel took your hand and gave you a tug …”
My mom’ s dad, my grandfather, Roosevelt was a very great father, brother, and grandfather. He was always very loving towards everyone, so much that he would do everything in his ability to be sure that his family lived the best life. He was the type of guy that anyone could get along with. One thing he always wanted for the family was for us to always love one another. The wisdom I gained from him is through what others tell me of him. He is the Morrie in my life, because through him I have learned not to take my family or life for granted. You never know when certain people in your life will be gone, that’ s why you should cherish them now while you still have the time. For me, I never knew when my grandfather would be gone that’ s why I like to make sure that I love everyone and be happy because they could be gone too soon, just like my grandfather.
If I could have one wish, just one, it would be to bring my grandfather back to life. He died in 1996, four months after I was born. Even though I never really had the chance to sit and have a real conversation with him I still feel like I know him so well through what my family says about him. I know in my heart that he is there and that he loves me no matter what. I just wish that I could talk to him and meet him for myself but I know that will not happen until the Lord calls me home.
