Kyle Godsman led USC Aiken in his final collegiate event by shooting
a three-round tally of 225, which was good enough for 38th place. Godsman shot a team-best 72 Wednesday afternoon.
Senior Hayden Letien tied for 45th after shooting a 54-hole total of
226. His best round of the tournament came Wednesday when he fired a
74.
Juniors Brandon Robinson-Thompson and Andrew Ward were each
two shots behind Letien. The duo tied for 58th after recording a 228.
Robinson-Thompson shot a 74 Wednesday while Ward tied for team-low
honors with a 72.
Senor Gaines Milliner capped his career by totaling a 234, tying for
83rd.
The Pacers finished just 10 strokes back from qualifying for the
quarterfinals.
Three PBC Men’s Golfers Named First-Team All-Americans
Three Peach Belt Conference men’s golfers have been selected PING
First-Team All-Americans as selected by the Golf Coaches Association of
America (GCAA). Only eight total golfers were named first-team with
Armstrong’s Shad Tuten, USC Aiken’s Brandon Robinson-Thompson and
Flagler’s Spencer Schindler on the squad. The PBC is one of only two conferences with multiple honorees on the team and no league had more
golfers selected.
An Elberton, Ga. native, Tuten carded a 72.58 stroke average in 31
rounds played this season for the No. 7-ranked Pirates, helping Armstrong reach the NCAA DII National Championships for the first time since
2005. He is the first first-team honoree for the Pirates since Chris Wolfe in
2007-08 and just the third overall, joining Thomas Whittaker (2004).
Schindler is the first Flagler golfer to earn All-America first-team
honors. Chris Bray (2011) and Greg Mergel (2012) were honorable mention All-Americans. Flagler has produced a total of 12 All-Americans in
five different sports since becoming full NCAA Division II members in the
2008-09 season.
The Elkton, Florida, native was selected to the PING All-Southeast
Region Team yesterday. Last month he was selected to as an All-Peach
Belt Conference first-team member as well as earning academic all-conference honors. He was tabbed as the PBC Men’s Golfer of the Week for
the period ending Feb. 14, 2014. Schindler broke the school’s 54-hole record with 202 strokes at the Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate, Feb. 11. He led
