Mount Olive won the event with King coming in second followed by
the Jaguars, all three earned trips to the national finals. Individually,
Clayton State’s Job Kemboi and Flagler’s Corey Mundy also earned a trip
to the nationals. Kemboi finished third overall while Mundy was sixth.
The top three teams and top two individuals not a part of those
teams receive invites to the finals.
Georgia Regents senior Jaiden Brandt, the PBC Runner of the Year,
led the Jaguars to a third-place team finish – taking second overall in
31:09.0. Senior Dustin Ross placed 12th in 32:01.1, Preston Jones took
17th in 32:16.2, and Nick Del Guercio notched 30th in 32:51.2. Shane
Huckeba took 45th in 33:36.7 and Matt Johnson (33:39.1) andAdam
Aldridge (36:24.6) rounded out GRU in 52nd and 131st.
Kemboi, a sophomore runner from Eldoret, Kenya, finished with a
time of 31:09.9 in the 10K race, setting a new school record in the event
for the Lakers. He becomes the first Laker male runner to qualify for the
national meet since Fedelis Mutios in 2010. Kemboi was less than a second from second place and 20 seconds from meet winner Dylan Lafond
of Mount Olive.
Mundy won the 2013 PBC Championships two weeks ago and
becomes the first Flagler runner to reach the national championships
since Flagler became a full NCAA Division II member in 2008. Mundy
ran the 10k course in 31:30 and helped the Flagler men to a sixth-place
finish.
Other Peach Belt teams in action included Columbus State in fifth
place, Flagler in sixth an UNC Pembroke in seventh. Georgia College
was eighth with Montevallo 11th and Armstrong 12th.
Individually, Flagler’s Corey Mundy, who won the PBC Championship two weeks ago, finished sixth in 31:30. Columbus State’s Ryan
McFall was 10th in 31:49.

SPOKANE, WASH — The Georgia Regents men’s cross country team
along with Clayton State’s Job Kemboi and Flagler’s Corey Mundy competed at the 2013 NCAA Men’s Cross Country Natio
