2012 Strategic Plan for The Lexington School 2012 Strategic Plan for The Lexington School

2012 Strategic Plan for The Lexington School The Lexington School Mission The mission of The Lexington School is to provide an education of the highest quality to students in preschool through middle school. In a structured, nurturing environment, The Lexington School seeks to instill integrity, a life-long enthusiasm for learning, and a strong work ethic. The Lexington School Philosophy Because we are a nurturing environment, children feel confident. When children are confident, they will take risks. Because risk taking is inherent in learning, the possibility of failure exists. When a nurturing community exists, challenges lead to growth. Our success is defined when our students have the life skills to make wise choices and overcome obstacles. The vision for this Strategic Plan is guided by The Lexington School’s Mission and Philosophy. At its core The Lexington School is a close-knit community. Since its founding in 1959, The Lexington School has evolved to serve its students, parents, faculty, and alumni in a much deeper way than simply educating its students. In today’s society, many people may not know their neighbor, thus the sense of community has weakened. In addition, many parents worry about allowing their children to play in an unsupervised setting. The Lexington School has become a figurative “neighborhood” for its families. We are not only a school that educates children. We are where people feel connected. The Lexington School is a place where not only its students make friends, but its parents do also. We provide a safe place for children to play and learn. Teachers work closely with parents to raise TLS children and instill lasting values. When families are faced with challenges, they often turn to the school community for support and comfort. The Lexington School is where life’s successes and joys are celebrated. The Lexington School has genuinely earned this reputation as a community. It has evolved into a special neighborhood authentically. A true community is not formed by words but by deeds. The Lexington School takes its responsibility to serve as a community base for its students and families seriously, and this core value guided the 2012 Strategic Planning Committee as it sought to plan for the School’s future.
