The Red Flag Campaign: Finalist in Avon Worldwide Communications Awards
We were thrilled to hear in early 2012 that The Red Flag Campaign was a finalist in the Worldwide Avon Foundation Communications Awards for outstanding use of communications to end violence against women. The Red Flag Campaign was one of five nominees in the “Break the Silence” award category for outstanding communications materials that encourage individuals or communities to step in and speak out against violence against women. Nineteen organizations from countries including Vietnam, Spain, Australia, Montenegro, Japan, Canada, India and Rwanda were nominated for awards in four categories. Nominees were chosen from a field of more than 200 campaigns and organizations. Five of the nineteen nominees are headquartered in the U.S. The winners were announced by Avon CEO Andrea Jung and Avon Global Ambassador Reese Witherspoon at the 2nd World Conference on Women’s Shelters in Washington, D.C. in February. In other happily related news: The Red Flag Campaign was invited to the White House in June to help launch the “1 is 2 Many” Campaign against intimate partner violence. ...and The Red Flag Campaign spread into our 43rd U.S. state and into Ontario, Canada this year!
