Kyndal Boykin but several other competitors to clinch a personal best by 00:46. She placed 33rd overall with a time of 23:52.2 as the fourth Lady Brave to cross the finish line. Boykin ran a very strong race and finished with a time of 23:53.4 which was 00:30 faster than her personal best for a 34th place finish.
Junior Ashlee Doughty and senior Blair Long finished 62nd and 146th overall, respectively as Doughty ran a time of 24:43.4 and Long posted a time of 27:21.7 in the race.
Montvallo’ s Kaley Glover claimed the individual championship with her time of 22:40.4. Glover, who will compete in the National Championship race as an individual, edged Keeley Wood of Wingate University by nearly 14 seconds to capture the region title. Glover’ s time is the third fastest 6K time recorded in school history.
Three PBC Women’ s Cross Country Teams Compete at National Championships
JOPLIN, MO – Columbus State, Clayton State and UNC Pembroke comprised the largest contingent of Peach Belt Conference teams to ever run at the NCAA women’ s cross country national championships, which were held on Saturday in Joplin, Mo. Columbus State finished 27th in the field with Clayton State one spot behind in 28th and UNC Pembroke 32nd. Montevallo’ s Kaley Glover also ran as an individual and finished 119th in the 249-runner field.
The Lady Cougars were just three spots behind their 24th place result at the NCAA Championship in 2009.
Grand Valley State captured its third national championship edging out Augustana by three points overall. Adams State, Western State and Chico State made out the rest of the top five.
Freshmen led the way for Columbus State as Kristina Delpesche and Rayna Green posted the top two times for the Lady Cougars. Delpesche ran the 6k course in 22:32.4 in 118th place. It was the second straight race that she has been the fastest CSU runner. Green crossed the finish line in 163rd with a time of 22:52.7. The time was 35 seconds better than her run at the Southeast Regional.
Moneque English gained six spots over the final 3k to finish in 176th. Her time of 23:01.9 was 18 seconds quicker than she was at the regional meet. Caroline Rotich completed the race in 23:54.2 in 215th place, an improvement of 19 seconds from the previous race. Shelby Nelson was the final runner factoring into the CSU team score placing 224th. The Las Vegas native finished with a time of 24:05.4.
Senior Moneka English and freshman Kaitlynn Howard also ran for the Lady Cougars. English crossed the line in 24:47.7 in 237th, while Howard had a time of 25:16.3 in 243rd.
Clayton State senior Paige Galvin was the first Laker to cross the line. Galvin covered the 6k distance in 22:39, finishing 133rd after improving four spots from the mid-race split. In fact, the top three Lakers to finish all ran a stronger second half of the course at Missouri Southern University. Samantha Walling was 173rd in a time of 22:58, but was faster over the second 3k, as was Raquel Valadez who finished 185th in a time of 23:11. Both Walling and Valadez passed over 20 runners over the final 3k.
Jessica Smith finished in 23:50 for Clayton State in 211th place and Gisele Javois was 219th in 24:00. Also running for Clayton State was Taylor Galvin who was 232nd in a time of 24:26 and Maia Kuhnen who finished 238th in 24:52. UNC Pembroke, competing in their first ever national championship, was led by freshman Kyndal Boykin, who covered the course in 23:32 to
finish 203rd. Livia Mahaffie was next in 212th place in a time of 23:51. Savannah Fornshell ran 24:08 to finish 226th while Kendra Dorn was 230th in 24:21 and Ashlee Dougty 235th in 24:45. Annette Sem also ran for the Lady Braves with a time of 25:54 while Blair Long ran 26:41.
Montevallo’ s Kaley Glover finished with a time of 22:33.3, which placed her 119th overall in individual standings in the field of 249 runners.
Glover, who earned the spot in the National Championship race after winning the NCAA Division II Southeast Region individual championship, now owns five of the fastest 10 times recorded in 6K races by a member of the Montevallo women’ s cross country program.
“ Kaley came out and represented the University well,” said Montevallo cross country coach Tommy Barksdale.“ She fought the whole race. It was a great way to end her senior cross country season.”
Glover finished the first half of the race with a time of 11:16.3 before finishing the second half with a time of 11:16.8. Glover moved up nine spots in individual standings down the stretch in the second half of the race.

Lander Wins Men’ s Soccer Regular-Season Championship!

FLORENCE- The No. 9 ranked Lander men’ s soccer team clinched its seventh Peach Belt Conference regular-season championship Saturday night when the Bearcats downed Francis Marion, 3-1.
Lander, which won PBC titles in 1991,‘ 93,‘ 95,‘ 96, 2006, and‘ 10, improve to 12-2-1 overall and 7-1-1 in the PBC, while Francis Marion drops to 5-9-2, 1-6-2.
The Bearcats will find out later today who they will host in the first round of the PBC tournament at 7 p. m., Tuesday, at the Jeff May Complex.
Lander took a 1-0 lead at 59:37 when Matthew Bell netted his third goal of the season on a double-assist from Chris Hobbs and Matthew Osmond.
The Bearcats extended the margin to 2-0 less than one minute later when Hobbs found the back of the net on another Osmond assist from right in front of the goal.
FMU scored its lone goal of the night at 61:39 to cut the lead to 2-1 on David Sheridan’ s goal, which was assisted by Cody Farrier.
The Bearcats’ final score came at 74:53 when Kevin Durand fired in a free kick from 28 yards out at 74:23. Lander outshot FMU, 20-8, and led in corner kicks, 7-3. FMU goalkeeper Logan Fisher had six goals, while Lander’ s Barrett
Nielsen had one.
Montevallo Claims PBC Men’ s Soccer Tournament Title 4-1
EVANS, Ga. – The University of Montevallo men’ s soccer team knocked off USC Aiken 4-1 in the Peach Belt Conference tournament championship match Nov. 4 at Blanchard Woods Park to clinch its fourth conference tournament title in school history. The Falcons, who entered the tournament as the No. 2 seed, defeated No. 7 seed Clayton State University and No. 3 seed Flagler College before taking down No. 8 seed USC Aiken in the championship match. Freshman Pierre Omanga, who was named the tournament’ s Most Valuable Player, led Montevallo( 13-4-2) with two goals in the conference tournament title match.“ I’ m so proud to be part of this team,” Omanga said.“ I’ ve got great teammates and a great coach.” Junior Gary O’ Neill, who also scored a goal in the championship match, junior Brendan Ledgeway and senior Mike Rinzema joined Omanga on the All-Tournament team.
“ Everybody played with tremendous heart tonight,” said Montevallo coach Ken Hassler.“ Our older guys have shown great leadership all year.”
O’ Neill scored the first goal in the match in the sixth minute off an assist by senior Shane Howard to give Montevallo a 1-0 lead. O’ Neill headed in a free kick off the foot of Howard to give the Falcons an early advantage.
