From Farm to Table Bergen farmers’ markets offer fresh fruits and veggies

Every year from late spring through the fall, various farmers’ markets sprout up around the county.

Farmers arrive at these markets laden with bushels, boxes and barrels of fresh vegetables and fruits – often at great prices. Many farmers’ markets also feature vendors with specialty items like fresh-baked goods, pickles and relishes, jams and jellies, honey, cheeses including hand-made mozzarella, pasta, plants, flowers and more.
Farmers’ markets are typically sponsored by local chambers of commerce or the town government, and promoted in part bythe state Department of Agriculture’ sJersey Fresh program. Some farmers accept WIC and Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program vouchers.
