AT THE NEW JERSEY PEDIATRIC NEUROSCIENCE INSTITUTE( NJPNI) Dr. Mazzola is surrounded by colleagues and staff who aim to provide the best possible clinical care in the areas of developmental disorders, pediatric neurosurgical and neurological diseases. They provide diagnoses and opinions, explain surgical and non-surgical treatment options and practice at world-class medical institutions. They understand that the entire family is affected by childhood illness and that the needs of each family are unique. NJPNI works closely with physical therapists, orthotists and other specialists. Dr. Mazzola provides staff support for craniofacial centers, spasticity and gait disorder centers and pediatric brain and spine tumor centers as well.
Dr. Mazzola completed her residency training in neurological surgery at Rutgers Medical School and her pediatric neurosurgery fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh. She is board-certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgeons and the American Board of Pediatric Neurological Surgery. She is the founder and co-director of the Craniofacial Center, Spasticity and Gait Disorder Center and Pediatric Brain and Spine Tumor Center of Goryeb Children’ s Hospital of Atlantic Health Systems. Dr. Mazzola has published several peer-reviewed articles and has presented numerous posters and abstracts at national neuroscience meetings, has authored and co-authored more than two dozen papers and has received grants from the Children’ s Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation and The New Jersey State Cancer Commission. Dr. Mazzola was elected to the Executive Committee of the Congress of Neurosurgical Surgery. She is one of only a handful of female neurosurgeons throughout the state.
