looking back | Hackensack, 1937
Exterior view of Hackensack Hospital in May 1937, on the occasion of opening its new six-story wing on the left side of the existing building on May 9 of that year. The $ 270,000 structure was constructed largely with funds provided by the late Senator William Johnson, who bequeathed $ 100,000 for enlarging the hospital. Once alterations and furnishings were completed, a tumor clinic was added to the sixth floor with X-ray rooms, in addition to two new labor rooms for the maternity wards.
