GET ORIENTED
This is the view onto the first floor from the second-floor lobby — for now . Entrants to the secondfloor from the parking lot will be directed from the second floor reception desk to adult patientrooms in the North and West Pavilions , or to elevators leading to the Family Care Pavilion ( South Pavilion ). They may also check out the gift shop , get medications in the pharmacy , eat in the dining areas , or take their food outside to tables and chairs and gaze upon a hydroponic garden where herbs are grown . Art restorers have been working to prepare many of the 280 panels that formed “ The World ,” the artwork by Polish-born artist Stefan Knapp that graced Alexander ’ s Department Store in Paramus until 1996 , for display at Valley Hospital ; 22 will be exhibited in the gardens .
TAKE NOTE Joe Lorino , Vice President of Facilities Management at the Valley Health System , takes hard hatwearing visitors down a long hall with patient rooms on either side . The 33-foot-long ceiling pipes were prefabricated in a Fair Lawn warehouse per 3D renderings , allowing them to be pre-tested and easily installed .
HELP ON THE HALL
Each patient ’ s floor will have two nurses ’ stations — one on each end — that seat 18 . Circadian lighting brightens the area gradually as the sky darkens to avoid issues of sundowning among the elderly . Satellite pharmacies make it easier to fill prescriptions .
