There have been many times this past year when it ’ s been easy to feel helpless ; so many lives have been lost to arelentless virus , and there hasn ’ t been much the average person can do about it . But every year , 8,000 people in the U . S . have died because they needed , and didn ’ t receive , a life-saving organ donation . New Jersey health care professionals and organizations are committed to lowering those numbers with better education , communication , technology and ways to match donors and recipients . Nothing would be possible , though , without the compassionate donors who come forward to give of themselves , afew of whom you ’ ll meet here .
