VITAMINS A HANGOVER CURE That Comes to You IV+Revolution serves vitamin IV’s from the comfort of your own home H WRITTEN BY CINDY SCHWEICH HANDLER AND JOHN FLYNN angovers, jet lag, food poisoning — these self- induced miseries can only heal with time. But what if that weren’t true? What if we could has- ten the recovery process and feel better within less than an hour? That’s the mis- sion of IV+Revolution, owned by Dr. Jerald Vizzone, a Montclair-based orthope- dic surgeon, and his partner Lauren Clancy, a wellness instructor. The compa- ny offers relief from nutrient depletion and dehydration due to illness, exhaustion, aging and yes, regrettable eating and drinking. Registered nurses deliver the IV infusions to clients at Vizzone’s Montclair office, in the company’s seasonally avail- able mobile spa in Hoboken, or in the pri- vacy of their own Bergen homes. The IV solutions are delivered in about 30 minutes and cost $249. We spoke to Clancy about this new business model, and the benefits of rejuvenation on demand. Where are you from originally, and what were you doing before IV+Revolution? I grew up in Pompton Plains and graduated from Pace University with a business degree. I’ve spent the past five years immersed in the healthcare industry. I have a holistic back- ground in health and wellness as both a movement and yoga instructor, and over 36 2019 EDITION (201) HEALTH 25 years of dance experience. I’m also a cancer survivor. How did you come up with the concept for your business? We started IV+REVOLUTION in 2016 to revolutionize health and wellness in New Jersey. No company was offering IV vitamin therapy when we started, and to this day, we are still the only company in New Jersey that provides IV vitamin therapy house calls, as well as in a walk-in mobile spa and at an on-site location in Montclair by appointment. Does IV+Revolution meet state medical standards of care? Yes. IV+Revolution is a licensed medical practice; my partner, Dr. Vizzone, is a physi- cian with over 35 years of medical experi- ence. We created, run and operate the com- pany. We hire only registered nurses, who provide house calls all over New Jersey, although mostly in the north and central parts of the state right now. What are some of the products and services you offer? We offer IV vitamin therapy to help you support your immune system; come back from hangovers, jet lag and food poison- ing; recover from athletics; lose weight; enhance beauty; fight the effects of aging, the cold and flu, and boost your immune system and libido. Who are your clients, generally? People call us with a cold or the flu, food poisoning or a hangover, or if they’re jet- lagged. They also come to us for aches and pains, and for cosmetic treatments. And we have doctors who refer patients to us. For example, there was a boy with a gastrointes- tinal issue, and his doctor wrote a prescrip- tion for him to be treated by us. How do the IV vitamin treatments work? Clients book appointments and fill out the online health form, which asks about previous surgeries, allergies and other medical conditions; each is reviewed by our medical director. Every customer can have a free consultation with our physician or nurse practitioner prior to administration, and we do phone follow-ups. During the procedure, a highly experienced registered nurse inserts a needle, which gives a quick pinch and retracts; a catheter stays in the arm during the vitamin infusion. About 15 minutes in, clients start to feel refreshed. A lot of headaches have gone away within minutes, as well as nausea and fatigue. People hug me afterwards. What advantage do IV treatments have over eating and drinking vitamins? When you take vitamins orally, you don’t know how much gets absorbed. Everyone needs well balanced meals and exercise, but
