FALL 2015 (201) GOLD COAST
“My style is all over the
place, some days I’m
super casual in workout
gear and others I am
city-chic. I am lucky to
have stores in the Gold
Coast for whatever I
need. I've been able to
shop for photo shoots,
red-carpet events, yoga
clothes and date-night
outfits within a few miles
from my apartment.”
Carla Marie Monica
“In the spring of 2010 I did my final
internship, which was a combination of the
Morning Show internship and interning with
Clear Channel’s digital team,” she says. “It
was March of 2010 when I was approached
about interviewing for a position at the show,
and by mid-April, before graduating, I was
working full-time at my dream job.
“I do hope that one day I have even more
of an on-air role, but that doesn’t mean I
don’t like producing and being behind the
scenes of a show, because I love it! I would
also like to do some TV work one day,
but radio is and always will be my passion.”
When Carla Marie isn’t pursuing her
passion at work, she can be found enjoying
her time in Jersey City, where she currently
resides.

urn on
your radio
to 100.3 FM
each weekday morning and
you’ll likely hear Carla
Marie Monica on Elvis
Duran and the Morning
Show. As producer and
lifestyle contributor, Carla
Marie comes up with
ideas discussed on the
show and fills listeners in
on “What’s Trending,” a
segment that shares fun
fads. She is also the cohost of My Day Friday
podcast on iHeartRadio.
“Most people tend to
think we work from
6 to 10 a.m. and then go
home,” Carla Marie says,
“but that’s not the case
for any of us. I finish
work at the studio most
days by 1 p.m. and then
head home to do my prep
for the next day. I work
randomly throughout the
day, as I put together
information on TV shows
that air at night. I usually
don’t wrap up my day
until 11 p.m.”
Although her schedule
is busy, Carla Marie
wouldn’t have it any other
way. She says she always
knew she wanted to work
for Elvis Duran and the
Morning Show and recalls
telling her mom while
driving to school one day
that she wanted to work
on the radio. So while
attending Rutgers
University, she applied to
be an intern for the show.
In the summer of 2009
she was hired to intern
for JJ, the afternoon DJ
at Z100. Then she began
interning for Elvis Duran
and the Morning Show
in the fall of 2009.
