PHOTOGRAPHY Kristen Maus Photography, Bergenfield kristenmausphotography.com Showcase your new arrival. The best time to photograph a newborn is when they are sleeping. Generally, if the baby is in a bucket or on a soft blanket, it works best. One parent should be responsible for spotting the newborn in case he or she moves. Use props. Utilizing the right props for your holiday session can really enhance your portrait. Stick with a simple and purposeful setup to keep the focus on the most important aspect of your photo, — your kids! PRO TIP: Newborn photo shoots around the holidays can be used for your Christmas cards. Get the entire family involved, even your pets. EDITOR’S TIP: SET UP HOLIDAY THEMES INVOLVING YOUR LITTLE ONE Most newborn photo shoots take place before 2 weeks of age. If your baby arrives in November, it’s the perfect time to combine your baby announcement and holiday photos. In addition to having your photographer take classic newborn shots of your baby, send them ideas for winter scene setups so they can shot these at the same time. You can use the images (with or without the classic photos) for the holiday cards you send to family and friends. — Laura Adams Stiansen 18 Kristen Maus Photography by Asiya, Edgewater photographybyasiya.com NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2017 | (201) FAMILY PRO TIP: A Little Tikes toy car and a small pine tree are the perfect props to showcase this little boy’s festive spirit.
