Y our kids are going back to school and you’re feeling a wide range of emotions. Let me tell you that it’s going to be OK. Why not plan a weekly family night-out dinner where your kids can fill you in on what they’re learning at school? In “Everybody Eats!,” we recom- mend seven local restaurants that both you and your kids will love. Or help them learn a new recipe that they can try making on their own (turn to page 6). This issue wouldn’t be complete without showcasing some stylish back-to-school looks. “Classroom Catwalk” offers new school wardrobe options for girls and boys — and let’s not forget about finding the perfect backpack. We also meet cover subject Talia Cuomo and do-gooder Stephanie Reifman. Cuomo, a talented 8-year-old from Old Tappan, recently shared the screen with A-list stars Sandra Bullock and Sandra Paulson in the all-female crime film Ocean’s 8. And Reifman, who is starting at the University of Michi- gan this fall, created a middle and high school pro- gram to help spread the dangers of heroin addiction. (201) Family likes to bring families together and our story on planning the perfect family reunion does just that (page 20). Make note of the fun ideas you can do to make the event a bonding experience for all. Our helpful Special Parent guide (starting on page 23) for parents of children with special needs provides newsworthy information about programs, people and projects in the community. And has your child ever told you they hated you? Ouch. It hurts. Guest col- umnist Eva Dwight shares tips on how to deal with this parenting heartbreak LAURA ADAMS STIANSEN in “Mom to Mom.” ● FALL 2018
