DINING date night HERE’S THE FULL LOWDOWN: You must start by becoming a member of one of iPic’s loyalty clubs to get the best ticket prices. There are several levels; there’s one that is free. If you refuse, you will pay up to $6 more a ticket. THIS IS NOT A CHEAP DATE. The nice thing here is that all seats can be reserved in advance. The cheap- est seat is $12 on weekdays. But those particular seats are extremely close to the screen and require you to fetch your own food from a separate concession stand. To do this, you’ll have to walk past the people who paid “premium plus” fees for seats a more reasonable distance away, and waiters who bring food from a much more extensive menu. So, spring for the “premium plus” seats. This will cost you $19 a seat on week- days and $25 on weekends. It includes popcorn, but all other refreshments are extra. ENJOY THE SEATS. There are private pods of two, with a shared table. This is a perfect date for two people, but a group of more people might not be able to communicate much or share food easily. And it could be awkward to go by yourself and have to 42 AUGUST 2017 | (201) FAMILY WRITTEN BY ELISA UNG share your space with a stranger. The chairs recline deeply and come with pillows and big, soft blankets that are “freshly washed and sanitized after each use,” according to iPic. ORDER FOOD AND DRINKS. A server may approach you as you sit down, or you can press a button to call him or her. There’s an extensive wine and cocktail selection – as well as some beers – that are also offered at the adjacent restaurant, City Perch. The food portions are enormous, so you should share or order conservatively. The delicious spicy tuna on crispy rice, a creation of celebrity chef Jet Tila ($17; share it as a starter or order it as an entrée), and the comforting quinoa-spin- ach dip with freshly fried tortilla chips ($11) were both appropriate finger food. ● IF YOU GO • Fort Lee’s iPic movie theater is at 2023 Hudson St. in the Hudson Lights building, (201) 582-7100, ipictheaters.com. • iPic has two levels of seating: premium (no table service, close to the screen) and premium plus (table service and a better location farther back in the theater).
