acqueline and Sam met as teenagers, 9
years ago, at the Saddle Brook Diner. Sam
was a waiter and Jacqueline was a hostess.
“He was always so sweet to me,” Jacqueline
says. “He would walk past the hostess station
and sing to me.” After a six-month friendship,
Sam finally asked Jacqueline out on a date. “And
me being the romantic that I am, I responded
with, ‘I guess we can give it a shot,’” she recalls.
“He will not let me live that down to this day,
but I am so glad we did!” Sam proposed on Aug.
10, 2015 at the New Jersey Botanical Gardens.
The couple had gone for a stroll on a Monday
after work, and at the top of a foot bridge over
the reflection pool waterfall, he got down on
one knee and popped the question. “I was so
overcome with emotions that I began to cry,”
Jacqueline says. “When I finally stopped to hug
him, I noticed that one of our friends was there
taking pictures. She had hidden in a bush nearby
and sprang out to capture the candid moment.”
Afterwards, they headed home to celebrate with
family and friends, who were waiting with big
smiles and open arms.
