The two-round , six-week poll featured 148 categories , including Food & Drink ; Health & Beauty ; Places to Go , Things to Do & People to Meet ; and Shopping & Services . During ROUND ONE of the poll , 15,753 participants nominated their favorites . The top seven nominations in each category then moved on to ROUND TWO in a head-to-head format . The second round had 36,944 participants , and between the two rounds , we counted 207,801 votes .

BEST OF BERGEN 2023 NOTES AND METHODOLOGY
• There were two rounds of voting .
• The first round , voting by nomination , started Oct . 10 and ended on Oct . 28 , 2022 .
• The second round featured the top seven nominations from the first round in ahead-to-head vote that started on Dec . 12 , 2022 , and ended Jan . 12 , 2023 .
• Voters were allowed one vote per category , per email address , per round .
• Finalists are listed in their order of finish .
• Voting for next year ’ s poll starts in the fall .
