The E3 conference was in Las Vegas , but I enjoyed it entirely from my couch in Michigan . It was an excellent idea for E3 to offer virtual conference tickets for those of us who wanted to be there but couldn ’ t attend for one reason or another .
One of the main reasons for attending a conference is the networking , which is lacking with a virtual ticket . Nevertheless , being able to catch the main stage presenters and several breakouts meant viewers could still glean nuggets of wisdom and inspiration during the three-day event , such as this gem :
“ Don ’ t miss your window of time to capitalize on what you can change in your life .”
This was a key message from Marc and Tricia Leach of Keep Your Daydream when they made a keynote presentation as co-founders of E3 Camping at the E3 Association Conference in early June .
For those who don ’ t follow KYD on YouTube and Instagram , they are a family of five who started traveling full time in a travel trailer a few years ago . Initially planned as a 6-month trip to test the waters , their efforts have blossomed into nearly full-time travel with a fantastic community of followers and supporters further enhanced by creating E3 Camping .
While Marc and Tricia ’ s style of travel and the rig they travel in have changed over the years , they have remained committed to a key axiom : Start Small , Start Now .
“ The problem with a big dream is it can be way off in the distance , and there ’ s no pressure to take the next step ,” Tricia said . She noted that it ’ s great to dream big , but you shouldn ’ t let it become something you just take down off the shelf now and again to ponder .
And the importance of shared experiences should not be overlooked — especially when you have kids who will grow up faster than you can imagine and will be looking to start their own adventures sooner than you realize .
Instead of focusing on acquiring things , consider spending your time and money on travel to create those memories that can be invaluable later in life . As Marc noted during their presentation , “ Things depreciate over time . Experiences appreciate .”
One of the best parts of their presentation was reviewing the excuses that often end up as roadblocks to starting travel . Of course , you don ’ t have to sell everything and jump into a tiny home on wheels to make things happen . But you do need to slay the dragons of doubt that will keep you from moving forward .
