CaN my rig make It ?
Oh boy , if I had a nickel ... Here ’ s the deal : The choice of vehicle doesn ’ t factor in as much as you think it does . Most , if not all , modern stock SUVs and trucks that have some decent tires can make it to most places that require a 4x4 rating and high ground clearance . Brad made an interesting point about driver skills as everyone is most likely different . Brad can wheel a stock Jeep like a pro because he ’ s been doing it ... a lot .
I ’ ve seen a Jeep Renegade and a Toyota RAV4 paired with an experienced driver push through some solid trails that would make most Jeep owners pee their pants . On the other hand , someone who is new to off-roading may not be able to traverse a black diamond trail in the same stock Jeep the way Brad is able to .
I am in agreement with Brad ’ s point on skill , and I would usually follow up with my own question , “ How long have you been off-roading , and where have you been before ?” Then , I ’ d have more information to help you decide if you or your rig can make it . I would also recommend an off-road tire if you don ’ t already have some equipped .
