“ When we have others join Anco , we support them in growing in their career . For example , we have a rockstar welder who came to me and said she wanted to be a foreman and wanted to learn how to weld , so we ’ ve invested in her . For two years in a row , we ’ ve sent her to the Tradeswomen Build Nations Conference in New Orleans to meet up with other women in the industry , including many who are kicking butt as foremen and business owners , so she can see for herself what ’ s possible ,” shares Nick .
One of Nick ’ s cousins , Pablo Juarez , who was previously an electrical engineer fixing cranes at the Port , asked for an opportunity to advance , so Anco sponsored him to learn construction and now , Nick reports , “ he ’ s killing it as a project manager for most of our Treasure Island work – including handling the paperwork , which is one of the hardest aspects of any public works project .” Nick ’ s sister , Jenifer , works as the company ’ s chief estimator and director of marketing .
