GEORGE LIVINGSTONE OPENS STABLE AT MONTGOMERY FARMS
George Livingstone has re-opened his own training operation in Shelbyville, Tennessee, at the Jack Montgomer barn on the Lewisburg highway. Known as the " old Winston Wiser barn,” this stable is in an excellent location and provides top quality facilities for training. Assisted by Gary Spencer, a young man with a good reputation in the horse business, George plans to work a few good horses and to give each one maximum attention. At present he is attracting a lot of attention with some of the finest SHADOW yearlings and two-year-olds around. J. French and Charlie Brantley have SHADOW’ S DUTCHESS, a fine black filly that was reserve in the Futurity, that they are proud of, and John A. Hendrickson of Manchester has a good two-year-old stud, PRIDE’ S GOLDEN BOY, that reminds us of GOLDFINGER. Mr. Hendrickson and Robert Clark also jointly own another fine twoyear-old stallion, and Mr. Hendrickson has a good
two-year-old chestnut filly.
Also attracting a lot of comment is SHADOW’ S DOLLY NELL, a very good three-year-old mare owned by Jack Montgomery. George now has ten horses in training and is going to take only a few more. He is trying to be selective and balance his stock for next year. He has all the young horses he needs, but would like to have a good aged mare and a good aged
stallion to show next season. We understand that there is a good prospect that he will be getting one of the top contenders for the 1970 season.
HARBER & CHERRY STABLES
Blue ribbons always stimulate business, and the success of Harber & Cherry Stables this year hasn t hurt them any. In addition to the sale of TIGER LIL LY to Sam Stockett of Jackson, Mississippi, Bob has also gotten some top-ranked stock for training. A recent headliner was purchased by Mr. and Mrs. Dave Stafford of Perryville, Tennessee. His name is RUN
NING BEAR and he was shown to an impressive blue by Jack Littrell of Florence, Alabama at the recent Jackson, Mississippi Horse Show. They have changed his name to ROYAL SUN and he will be shown in aged stallion and stake classes next year.
Bob also told us that he has recently gotten GO BOY’ S PRESIDENT, the impressive World Champion Yearling for 1969, for training. Owner Roger Gochneaur of Aurora, Ohio has good reason to approach the future with high hopes for this fine black stallion.

NEWPORT STABLES OFFICIALLY OPENS NOVEMBER 9
A good crowd was on hand at the open house of the Newport Stables in Oneida, Tennessee as Clayton and Melvin Newport officially opened their new stable on November 9. Their trainer, Gene Low’ ery, is a young man with considerable experience in this business. The one-time trainer for the Lymvood Stables exhibited several of their horses and was particularly pleased with EBONY ' S DREAM MAKER, a full sister to EB ONY’ S SENATOR, owned by C. L. Kline of Robbins, Tennessee. Known as the SENATOR’ S SISTER, this fine black mare has great possibilities, according to everyone who has seen her.
With twenty stalls and all facilities for training and caring for top show horses, the new Newport Stables should be a welcome asset to Walking Horse enthusiasts in the Tennessee-Kentucky area. Oneida, Tennessee is located right at the Kentucky-Tennessee border and is in a good location to attend shows in several states. They now have thirteen horses in training and have several more coming in shortly. This, in addition to two breeding stallions, will make up a full load for Mr. Lowery as he undertakes the task of putting Newport Stables on the map.
Whenever you are in this area, be sure to make a visit to the Newport Stables. Both Mr. Newport and son Melvin will be glad to see you, and trainer Gene Lowery just might show you some top stock.
JACK BREWER STABLES
Jack Brewer, well-known horseman from Florence, Alabama, recently announced the opening of his own operation. He has acquired the services of trainer Bill Yelton, formerly from South Carolina, who first hit the " big time” several years ago riding MERRY BOY’ S SECRET for Guy Whiteher, Jr. of Newberry, South Carolina. Bill went to work last month and will work most of Jack’ s horses as well as some outside stock.
They have great plans for SATAN’ S SHADOW, a fine three-year-old black stallion that did well this year. Bill is also pleased with the progress of THE SCORCHER, a three-year-old bay stallion, and another three-year-old stallion that is a full brother to SUNDUST PRECISION. Young horses are much in evidence and Bill will have his hands full breaking and starting some real good prospects. Of particular interest is DELIGHT’ S OL’ SUN, a yearling comingtwo that is a full brother to DELIGHT’ S PERFEC TION. He will also be starting SUNSET STARLITE, a filly that was fourth at the Murfreesboro Colt Show. In juvenile classes Bill will be featuring DASH OF MIDNIGHT SUN, with Barry Brewer up.
Known as the Jack Brewer Stables and located at the beautiful Rolling Spurs Farm, this operation should be an asset to Alabama horse activity.
