WALKING " G” STABLES HOSTS SUCCESSFUL SHOW
The Second Annual Walking " G” Stables Horse Show was held in Carriere, Mississippi on Saturday night, April 5, 1969. In spite of heavy rains the morning of the show, more than 90 horses entered the ring in the fifteen classes.
Bud Dunn of Florence, Alabama did an excellent job of tieing the classes as he saw ' them. O’ Neil Howell of Memphis, Tennessee handled the announcing chores and kept the crowd entertained with ease and charm. Music by Larry Bright of Jackson, Mississippi was enjoyed by all present.
Plans are already underway for next year. Looking forward to bigger and better things, Ray Gibbins, owner of the Walking " G” Stables, hopes to have facilities available for a two-day show in 1970. suits of this show ' are in the Horse Show Results section of this issue.
BIRD ** SHOW ATTRACTS TOP HORSES
- Second Annual " Early Bird Special” Horse Show i vetteville, Tennessee on Saturday, April 12round- «> ut a great show- weekend following the Friday.-nt Walking Horse National in Nashville. Entries totaled 218 horses and some of the best stock in the country was there. Sponsored by the Lincoln County Horsemen’ s Association. the show was held at their brand new showring. The judge was Buddy Kirby of Toney, Alabama, and Bob Jennings served as announcer. Judge Kirby had his work cut out for him in the Aged Stallion and Gelding Class as the 1968 Junior World Champion ACE’ S SENSATION and Wink Groover made their first show of the season. Word got around that ACE was on the grounds and the crow ' d was ready when he hit the gate.
The crowd was not alone in being ready, as ACE came in the ring looking great and left about twenty minutes later still looking that way and with a blue ribbon to boot. This show served notice that they will be tough to stop in their bid for the Grand Championship in 1969.
COLUMBIA SPRING JUBILEE TO HOST EXHIBITORS WITH TOP ENTERTAINMENT
AT AFTER-SHOW DANCE
Exhibitors at the 1969 Columbia Spring Jubilee will be the guests of the horse show management and the
VOICE Publishing Company at a party after the
Friday night performance on June 6. The Dutch buffet breakfast will be held at the Holiday Inn in Columbia and will begin after the horse show and last for several hours. Feature attraction of the evening will be dancing and entertainment to the music of Martha Carson and the Nashville All Stars. This group is well known throughout the music world and features many of the stars of the original Boots Randolph band.
Martha Carson is the lead vocalist and major performer. She is supported by Jack Greuble on drums, Chuck Sanders on bass, Norm Ray on the saxophone and Joe Edwards on guitar.
In discussing the brand of music we can expect, Miss Carson stated that they can play most anything, but specialize in " pop” and " blues” with major emphasis on dancing for both young and old. They will provide the Jubilee exhibitors with two special performances during the evening with plenty of time in between for dining and dancing. It looks as if this will be a welcome treat for everyone.
The evening will be co-sponsored by the Spring Jubi- I lee and the VOICE Publishing Company in an effort | to further up-grade the show and to provide good entertainment and a social event for the many fine people who support the show. Semi-formal dress is suggested. Arrangements for eating and set-ups are being worked out and everyone can be assured of adequate quantities of everything necessary for a good evening.
