Sales come and sales go, but the Murray Farm Sale
goes on and on.
The 56th Murray Farm Sale was held April 15-18 at
the Sale Grounds in Lewisburg, Tennessee. A wide
selection of registered Tennessee Walking Horses were
sold during the day and night sessions.
The sale was handled in its usual businesslike and
professional manner and a large share of the credit
must go to the two well-known owners, S. W. Beech
and Pete Yokley.
The auctioneers were Eddie Bryant and Herbert
McClain, with Pete also spending considerable time
behind the mike. Sam Yarbrough was the paddock
master and Britt Spence was in charge of the sale
contracts.
The lady who keeps things going at the Murray
Farm, Mrs. Barbara Wiggins, served as clerk along
with Mrs. Monte Carpenter.
The top priced horse to go through the sale was
MR. FANTASTIC. This aged stud was purchased by
Joe Vann Clayton of Arab, Alabama from the Fashion
Two Twenty Stables of Aurora, Oh. Joe Vann quickly
won two shows — Hokes Bluff, Alabama and Etowah,
Tennessee — to make his $7,100 bid look good indeed.
Fashion Two Twenty was also the consignor of the
second highest priced horse going through the sale,
HIGH CHAPARRAL. This horse was purchased by
Kenneth Newbern of Orangeburg, South Carolina for
$ 6 , 100 .
A total of 600 horses was entered in the sale, with
413 being sold, 150 no-saled and 37 not making an
appearance. Officials of the Murray Farm said the
only disappointing thing was the rainy weather, which
