BOBO STABLES PLANS RIDING SCHOOL FOR WALKING HORSE ENTHUSIASTS
The Bobo Stables in Shelbyville , Tennessee , already one of the most active Walking Horse businesses going , is scheduled to start a major riding school for enthusiasts of this breed . Their current plans call for the first classes to beging the first or second week of June , depending upon registrations and development of facilities for the school . There will be several phases to the school , including group and private lessons . The school will last approximately six weeks for area students , with regular classes being held at scheduled times during the week . Sessions will be available on a daily basis for students , both adult and juvenile , who wish to come from out of state , and the school will provide living accommodations while these students are in Shelbyville , Tenn .
In discussing the program , Mr . Charles E . Bobo , director of the school , stated that they will include all phases of basic horsemanship and horse science . They will not , he added , attempt to teach equitation or horse training techniques at this time . Mr . Bobo will be assisted by his sister , Mrs . Martha Dunnegan , who has had extensive experience in all areas of the horse business . The Bobo Stables is located on a beautiful one-hundred-acre spread on the Unionville Highway just north of Shelbyville . They have ample facilities — including riding trails , showrings , stables and horses — for the school , and every attempt will be made to provide the best in basic horsemanship . TRAGEDY OF CLUB PRESIDENT MARS AUGUSTA , GEORGIA HORSE SHOW
Tragedy struck the third annual North Augusta Lions Club Horse Show in April with the collapse and ultimate death of Lions Club President Irwin L . Pruett .
Pruett , 45 , collapsed moments after helping make the ribbon presentation for the Walking Horse Amateur Class . He was a native of Irvington , Virginia , and had lived in North Augusta for the past twenty years . He had been president of Little League baseball and was past president of the Yellow Jacket Boosters Club , which boosts all sports at North Augusta High .
Duncan Johnson was receiving the ribbon and trophy for the Amateur Class on MIDNIGHT TORNADO just before Mr . Pruett collapsed . Jim Babb of Fort Oglethorpe , Ga . was Walking Horse judge for this show .

Orton to Judge — S3,450 Prize Money in Walking Horse Classes
Occasionally we run across some people who really ake a special interest in our breed . Such is the case his year with the Tuscaloosa , Alabama , JWA Charity Horse Show . This show has been established for several years as a " good Walking Horse show ” but this year they are trying to make it great . They have acquired the services of Mr . Clyde Orton as their judge and have arranged all Walking Horse classes for Wednesday , June 18 and Thursday , June 19 . This will enable exhibitors and trainers to make the trip to Tuscaloosa and still give everyone two days to get to another show the following Saturday .
The major drawing card , however , is their schedule and the number of classes they are offering . They have fourteen Walking Horse classes , seven each evening , and have an impressive total of $ 3,450 prize money in the fourteen Walking Horse classes .
Mr . Orton is well-known throughout the Walking
Horse as a knowledgeable horse expert and was a Celebration judge in 1965 . He is from Caruthersville ,
