This horse attracted a lot of attention last season as a Uvo-year-old and was shown sparingly by Joe as a young horse. He won his first blue two weeks ago and appears on the way to becoming the next " headliner” for the Joe Webb Stables. CARBON CAVALIER is also attracting his share of acclaim and is reported to be much improved since last year. He is owned by Lenox, Rodgers and Webb and is now suitable for anyone to ride with a fine canter to match his superb flat foot and running walks.
THE ENTERTAINER, 1968 Reserve Grand Champion of the World, is still demanding the attention of Walking Horse lovers everywhere. This remarkable age stallion is much improved over last year and shows the effects of another year’ s growth. He has filled out considerably and is hitting a big, bold lick that should please most observers. He was on exhibition at Searcy and everyone liked what they saw. Joe plans to show him a lot this year, and owner Chester Coon of Biggs, California should be pleased with his horse.
Joe reports that he has thirty-four horses in training including a lot of young horses and some that are suitable for juvenile and amateur competition. Call
him if you need a good horse.
BAR B STABLES This stable, located in Centre, is another one of the
fine stables for Walking Horses located in Alabama. The growth of the breed in Alabama continues and it is through stables such as this one that this growth occurs. The stable is owned by Dean Buttram and his trainer is Harold Kilpatrick. Harold, who is 31 years old, has been here since the first of the year, having previously worked at the Clark Stables.
Harold is working 15 horses including four horses for outside customers. The barn has 27 stalls that are being rapidly filled, and all the other features of a top professional stable.
MYSTERIOUS SHADOW, Mr. Buttram’ s well-known aged stallion that has been in the running for championships at all the major shows for years, is now in training with Doug Wolaver. Dean plans to go after the top honors with his horse and has confidence in the ability of Doug to get the job done.
Dean, Jr. is showing a nine-year-old roan gelding with great success this season. He has been in the ring five times and has two blues, two reserves and one third. Dean, who is eighteen years old, plans to show his horse at all the major shows this year.
The Buttrams have a good two-year-old under saddle and Harold has high hopes for him. His name is SHADOW’ S ROMEO, by GO BOY’ S SHADOW. He has been shown three times and has three ribbons.
Charles Clayton of Cedar Bluff has a horse in training at Bar B Stables named BIG MAN H. This threeyear-old sorrel stud has plenty of ability. Curtis Mackey of Centre has a good two-year-old SHADOW sorrel stud in training that should make a ranking show horse.
Ralph Price, also of Centre, has two horses in training. His black three-year-old SHADOW mare is 16 hands and a willing worker. His daughter Meredith will show a pony, MACK K’ S LITTLE JOHN, this year. She showed him twice last season and won two ribbons.
The youngest riding member of the Buttram family is David, fourteen years old. He has shown MAGIC’ S LITTLE LADY, a six-year-old bay pony, four times to win three ribbons. He won the Adairsville, Georgia show with a fine performance.

WAYNE HENRY STABLES
There are a lot of privately owned and operated Walking Horse stables dotted around the country, but few are run as well and efficiently as the Wayne Henry Stables in Ooltewah, Tennessee. Located only fifteen minutes from Chattanooga on the Ooltewah-
Ringgold Road, this fine new stable is the product of a family effort. Wayne Henry and his lovely wife Judy have stimulated the activity of a lot of people and they have managed to turn up some pretty good stock for this season.
Having been in the Walking Horse business only three years, Wayne, who is an insurance adjuster, has had to learn a lot on his own when it comes to training horses. Unlike a lot of self-made horsemen, he has made every effort to learn the " right way” to do things and it shows up on his horses. Along with
