SOUTHWESTERN EXPOSITION AND FAT STOCK SHOW FEATURES WALKING HORSES

The Fort Worth Horse Show , held in conjunction with the Fat Stock Show and Rodeo , was a huge success . The Walking Horse classes were filled to the brim with top horses . The huge show and rodeo were held in the tremendous Will Rogers Memorial Coliseum from January 21 to February 2 .
This show brings a nice break to the routine winter work and sparks enthusiasm for the 1969 season . The weather was lovely and exhibitors from the northern states couldn ' t believe it was- January . The guest attraction for the show- this year was Fess Parker , more commonly known as Daniel Boone .
The Honorable Clyde Orton of Caruthers ville , Missouri did an excellent job of tying the Walking Horse classes with entries from Tennessee , Colorado , North Carolina , Arkansas , . Minnesota , Oklahoma , Wisconsin , Missisippi , Lo11isnana , \ iissouri and Texas . Included among the horses entered were several world champions and winners at the Celebration . Fort Worth has the World ’ s Original Indoor Rodeo and Horse Show : the ba / ns are connected to the coliseum 0 the exhibitors didn ' t have to go out into the CO ' - 70 '' weather to show . The Juvenile Class was another well-filled class . HANDSHAKER ’ S LADY K and Brucene Tarkington of Cotton Plant , Arkansas carried away top honors in the class of 17 . HANDSHAKER ’ S PRINCESS and Grace Steere were reserve ; third , SUN ’ S KANGEKKTTE , Rex Frazier Stables , Mission ; fourth , WALKING FOR FUN , Karen Greif up ; fifth , SHADOW ’ S GREAT DAY and Jackie Taylor ; sixth , PERFECTION ’ S AN­ GEL for Mr . & Mrs . M . D . Williamson .
A large and pretty class was the Ladies Walking Horses , with thirteen entries . THE WILD TURKEY and Wayne Davis walked off with the blue with reserve going to GO BOY ’ S STRAWBERRY and Mrs . John Pennington . Third was PIDDLEY ’ SPIN­ UP , Einda Scrivner for Pickering ’ s Super Market , Rogersviile , Mo . Tied fourth was HANDSHAKER ’ S PRIN­ CESS and Grace Steere ; fifth , WALK­ ING FOR FUN and Karen Greif . The Three-Year-Old Stake was a truly outstanding class of twenty colls , with the championship going to GOLDEN PLAYBOYandSteel Casting Company . Reserve Champion , BIG DEAL , was ridden by Sonny Scrivner for Dan Wiley and Gary Acker . Third was CLOUD NINE , ridden by Ronnie Spears for Circle R Stables of West Point , Miss .; fourth ,

The Junior Stake was one of the best in the show and was won by MAJOR ’ S MAGIC KNIGHT , C . A . Bobo up . MIDNIGHT CAT WALK and Sam Caldwell put on a tremendous show to tie reserve . Third was MAGIC MIDNIGHT , Ronnie Spears up for Floyd Blundell ; fourth , BLACK SHADOW B , Green tree Ranch , Colorado ; filth , ALLEN ’ S TRIPLE SHOT with Jackie Gardner in the saddle ' for C . L . Frates ; sixth , MACK K ’ S ECHO and Earl Chastain of Holly Grove , Ark .
HANKY PANKY walked away with the blue in a class of seven good mares . C . A . Bobo put her through her three gaits perfectly . Reserve in the Mare Stake was DARK MO­ TION and Chester Beshearsfor O . L . Hall . MAGIC BEAUTY was third , with Ronnie Spears up for Floyd Blundell ; fourth was PERFECTION ’ S ANGEL for Mr . and Mrs . W . D . Williamson ; fifth , COLORADO ANN and Eugene Brown ; sixth , SUN ’ S RAN- GERETTE for Rex Frazier Stables .
The Stallion and Gelding Stake had 16 horses in it , and there was no doubt that SUN ’ S HOT SHOT and Ronnie Spears were the champions here . Owner is Floyd Blundell . Reserve went to DECISION ’ S SUN­ SET and Russell Doose for Brownview Acres . Third was THE WILD TURKEY and C . A . Bobo for Mr . and Mrs . D . A . Alexander of N .
