The Wisconsin Walking trail ride recently and over 30 turned out ( and mai more to lend moral support ). It originated at Glc gary Stables in Waukesha , and anyone who want to rent horses could do so . It was a most enjoyat ride , followed by demonstrations by the new train at the stables , Glynn Syler from Tennessee , assist by Lonnie Templeton from Minnesota , who has sin moved to the Barwinn Stables in West Bend as t new Walking Horse trainer there . This , in turn w followed by cocktails and dinner , courtesy of the T berts , and a good time was had by all .

OF ICHABOD , the big black stallion belonging to the Leo Baum family ’ s River Tree Farm . Ladies Champion was COLONEL PAT , trainer Mary Lynn Treis the rider , and reserve was REGAL GOLD , ridden by Ruth Ann McDuffee . Winning the Junior Championship was George McGilvra ’ s SHADOW ’ S RHYTHM BOY , with reserve to Gretchen Peterson of Appleton and her STROLLING PIED PIPER .
In the Pleasure Horse category , the Senior Champion was SUNDUST LAZY BOY , Dr . Gordon Gavin of Wittenberg the owner ; and reserve was SUNDAY SOX , belonging to Joe Surinak of New Berlin . The Junior Pleasure Champion was again SUNDUST LAZY BOY , Peter Gavin getting the honors .
The next two awards , to the Horsewoman and the Horseman of the Year , were something special . They were presented to Mrs . Leo Baum and Dr . Gordon Gavin . It was thrilling , and is something the Association hopes to keep going . These awards go to those who have contributed the most to the breed and the Association throughout the year .
Elections followed , and the three new directors , elected for three-year terms each , were : John Wollman of Waukesha ; Fran Winn of Barwinn Stables , West Bend ; and Dr . Gordon Gavin . Elected to continue in their present capacities for another year were Larry Pickhardt , Menomonee Falls , President ; John Krumm , Crystal Lake , 111 ., Vice President ; and Phil Krueger , Milwaukee , Secretary-Treasurer . It was a most successful meeting . New members continue to join every month , and anyone interested in our fine breed is invited to join .
A WORKER ’ S RESOLUTION
One thing I am resolved upon : I will not be a sponge or a parasite . I will give an honest equivalent for what I get . I want no man ’ s money for which I have not rendered a full return . I want no wages that I have not earned . If I work for any man or any company or any institution , I will render a full , ample , generous service . If I work for the city or the state or the nation , I will give my best thought , my best effort , my most conscientious and efficient endeavor . No man , no body of men , shall ever be made poor by their dealings with me . If I can give a little more than I get every time , in that shall be my happiness . The great commonwealth of human society shall not be the loser through me . I will take good care to put into the common fund more than I take out .
