Discussion on conformation of the mare and stud for
breeding purposes
^ Care of mare before breeding
£ Care of stud before breeding and art of keeping stud
in breeding condition.
Demonstration in artificial and natural breeding
^ Care of mare during pregnancy and feeding
Care of colt at birth (Treatment of naval cord etc.)
Demonstration of breaking the colt to lead (halter breaking)
Demonstration of trimming colts feet, shoeing the horse for
pleasure and also shoeing the show horse
Demonstration of how to groom the horse for show
Demonstration of loading and unloading the horse
Demonstration of grooming the mane and tail and proper
way of cleaning switches
Talk on the proper way in which a horse should be warmed
up before showing and the proper way to braid and tie
on a tail brace.
ic A colts tail will be cut and set during clinic
Discussion on proper riding attire
Demonstration on equitation
Demonstration on performing the different gaits as called
for the judge
Tips on showing the horse in the ring
Demonstration on grooming the colt for show
Explanation on the feeding of the colt and tips on showing
the colt
Demonstration of preparing colt to go under saddle
Demonstration of how to handle a hot horse (proper way of
cooling out and putting horse up)
Demonstration of care and cleaning show tack
Demonstration of how to saddle and bridle the horse and
adjust the curb for different effects
Explanation of how different boots effect different horses and
how each should be adjusted
Question and answer session
+ Demonstration of the flatwalk, running walk, and
canter as it should be done (3 different horses)
ALL AMATEURS ARE INVITED TO BRING THEIR OWN
HORSES WITH STALLS PROVIDED AND A PROFESSIONAL
TRAINER WILL BE ASSIGNED TO HELP THEM WITH ANY
PROBLEMS THEY MIGHT HAVE WITH THEIR HORSES
