MID-SOUTH HORSE SHOW ASSOCIATION STAGES ANNUAL MEETING AND AWARDS BANQUET

The Mid-South Horse Show Association held its annual meeting and awards banquet February 1 and 2 at the Holiday Inn in Jackson, Tennessee. The Saturday afternoon meeting opened with a membership dinner and the presentation of movies from the 1961 and 1967 Celebrations by Russ McCowan, WSVM-TV.
The Sunday afternoon meeting was opened by President Bob Henson and the invocation was given by O ' Neil Howell. The first order of business was discussion of the new rule changes for the 1969 show season and the new rules of the Association. New Association rules will include listing only paid member shows in the Association Date Book. The weeks of the year will be numbered one through twenty-eight and the first Saturday in January will be number one. Points from a member show must be reported to the Association within six weeks of the date of the show. Also, points cannot be obtained from two shows held the same day if they are within a 150-mile radius.
After the discussion, Mr. McCowan presented " Free and Easy,” an old movie that was prepared by the Breeders ' Association during the late 1940’ s, and a
recent movie of the 1968 Celebration. The Awards Banquet began with a delicious dinner after which Bob Henson introduced the new slate of officers. Sam Gibbons was named president; Ray Miller and Tom Banks, first and second vice presidents; and Emmet Guy is the secretary of the organization.
The highlight of the meeting was the presentation of the Championship trophies and ribbons. Those receiving awards in the various classes were:

NIGHT PROWLER, Janie Bramlett Hugh. Walking Horse, Open- Championship, BLACK SOUTHERN AIRE, Sharon Terry Love; Reserve, SUN UP R, J. W. Renfroe. The new board members are: Sam Gibbons, Marshall Ledbetter, and Ray Miller, three-year terms; Jimmy
Cole, George Lenox, and O’ Neil Howell, two-year terms; ahd Joe Mitten, Penn Mohon, and Jimmy Oakley, one-year terms.
Columbia Spring Jubilee, Columbia, Tennessee, was elected the Show of the Year by the membership and Tom Walsh of Amory, Mississippi was selected to receive the Adult Good Sportsmanship Award. Laura
Corklin of Mobile, Alabama received the Junior Good Sportsmanship Award.
