WELSH-LOVETT STABLE CLOSES
SUN ’ S ELIMINATOR and SOUND OF FURY Move To Bud Seaton Stables
Ralph Lovett of Union , Kentucky announced that ' Bud Seaton has taken SUN ' S ELIMINATOR and THE SOUND OF FURY . They are now in his care and training . Joe and Judy Martin have Terry Lovett ’ s black coming-two stud , out of the dam of SOUND OF FURY and by a full brother to BLACK RHYTHM .
Mr . Lovett ’ s amateur gelding , MACK K ’ S SECOND STORY , was sold to \ Y . C . Gould , Briban , Pennsylvania . He was Tri-State Amateur Champion in 1968 and the Ohio Valley Walking Horse Amateur Champion in 1969 . He also tied third in the 50-Year and Older Rider / Amateur Class at the Celebration this year .
A top pleasure gelding , THE REAL McCOY , winner of 21 straight blues in Kentucky and Ohio shows and the Kentucky Celebration Pleasure Horse Champion in 1968 and 1969 , was sold to Mr . and Mrs . I . A . Archanbault II of Burlington , Kentucky . They will attempt to keep his winning streak going in the 1970 shows in this area .
Lovett Stables will continue to raise a few colts each year , either to sell as yearlings or to put in training . Among the weanlings that they now have is a full brother to THE SOUND OF FURY . They will stand his sire , GO BOY ’ S FURY D , to a few outside mares next year .
HANDSHAKER TO STAND 1970 SEASON AT WADDELL STABLES
New Owners Have High Hopes For Successful Season
As if the fact that he sired the 1969 World Champion Junior Horse were not enough , MACK K ’ S HAND­ SHAKER takes on even more importance for the 1970 breeding season by a change of ownership and location . The popular 1960 World Grand Champion was purchased during the Celebration by Billy and Max Stanfill of Savannah and Lexington , Tennessee , and Douglas Crotts of Savannah , Tennessee , and will stand the coming season at the Waddell Stables in Brownsville , Tennessee .
An organization known as Handshaker Enterprises , Inc . owns the fourteen-year-old stallion and it is reported that they recently turned down a handsome profit for the horse . The sire of several World Champions , including SHAKER ’ S SHOCKER and HAND­

SHAKER ’ S DELIGHT , he is naturally in great demand as a top breeding horse . His previous owners , W . A . Fickling and Frank Talbot of Macon , Georgia , have nothing but praise for the stallion and state that they had excellent results with him as a sire . He previously stood at Gene Adams ’ Circle A Farms in Sandersville , Georgia , and is reported to have gotten a high percentage of his mares in foal last season .
The Waddell Stables , one of the most popular horse operations in West Tennessee , is well-equipped for a major breeding operation and the background and experience of R . C . and Jimmy Waddell will add depth to the HANDSHAKER program for 1970 . They have over three hundred acres of choice pasture and assure everyone of proper care of mares and colts . EAST TENNESSEE HORSE SHOW ASSOCIATION STAGES ANNUAL AWARDS BANQUET
The annual awards banquet of the East Tennessee Horse Shows Association was held in October at the Green Meadows Country Club in Knoxville , Tennessee with 78 members attending . The banquet was highlighted by the election of officers for 1970 and the presentation of high-point awards for the 1969 season . The officers elected were President John M . Carpenter , Madisonville ; Vice President Roy Thurman , Knoxville ; Secretary , Mrs . Roy Thurman , Knoxville ; and Treasurer Jim Hinds , Rockwood . WALKING HORSE ASSOCIATION OF ALABAMA ORGANIZED
The Walking Horse Association of Alabama was recently organized and chartered under the leadership of George Witt , Athens , as president . Other officers include Clay Parsons , vice president ; Sonny Southerland , recording secretary ; Dr . Roger Cox , corresponding secretary ; and F . N . ( Doc ) Huey , parliamentarian .
Chairman of the Board is Hershel Talley ; vice chairman is Captain E . A . Self . Others serving on the Board of Directors are Bud Dunn , L . M . ( Red ) Hilley , Lloyd Wood , W . O . Crawford , Julian Bland and Bobby Young . At the last meeting in Cullman , it was announced that an all-Walking Horse show will be sponsored by the organization at the Coliseum in Montgomery on April 16 , 17 and 18 . The show will be known as the Alabama Jubilee .”
