BARNWELL STABLES
Barnwell Stables in Shreveport, Louisiana is bustling with activity as trainer Bill Hutson prepares his horses for the coming show season. At present Bill is working an excellent string of horses. One of them, THE NEW LOOK, will be shown by Mrs. Barnwell in amateur classes again this year.
Bill is particularly optimistic about his three-yearold mare, COPY ' S RECORD. This is the mare that the Barnwells bought from Dude Crowder last fall. There is also a good two-year-old in the barn by SABRES JET and out of the Barnwells’ great show mare, MACK K’ S ALMA D.
The stake classes will see Bill enter the ring with SABRE ' S ROCKET. Bill has won many stake classes and this year will be no exception.
Visitors are always welcome at the stable. If you want to see some real fine stock and meet some real fine horse people, stop by the Barnwell Stables.
ROY ROBERSON STABLES
Bob Pyland is saddling some top stock at the Roy Roberson Stables in El Dorado, Arkansas. Everyone knows Bob from the Joe Webb Stables, w ' here he has worked lor the past few years. He is working fifteen horses that all belong to Mr. Roberson and his father.
L DORADO SHADOW has been shown successfully " by R‘-» y: n amateur classes. He will be shown this season by Bob in the stake classes and a few times by Roy in amateur classes. This horse can really set jacK. shake his head, drop down in his back end and walk a hole in the wind.

20 the three-year-old classes Hershel has DUKE’ S ROAN ALLEN, a sorrel stud belonging to Jack Cambrin. Howard Utter also has a nice sorrel stud by SPIRIT OF MIDNIGHT in training here.
Priscilla Talley will be showing EAGLE’ S ACE for O. C. Cook in the Walking Pony classes. EAGLE’ S ACE was Champion Pony at the Mobile Deep South Horse Show. Liz Colfee, one of Hershel’ s juvenile riders, will be showing her big strong-going sorrel mare in the juvenile classes.
In the stake classes, Hershel will be showing the well-known CLOWN’ S IMAGE. This is the horse that has beaten almost every top horse.
DICKEY STABLES
Gene and Danny Dickey of the Dickey Stables in Kelso, Tennessee are training some good stock for the coming season. The Dickeys have a nice headshaking aged stud, HANDSHAKER’ S SON. ROCK ET’ S BIG MIDGET is promising to be a big threat ing the four-year-old classes.
Ewin Courley will be showing ANGEL’ S DESTINY again this year in the pony classes. Ola Archer is very proud of a three-year-old pony mare by SET TING SUN that the Dickeys have working real well.
The Dickeys are also working HANDSHAKERS SUPERIOR, a three-year-old stud, and a two-year-old mare that is a full sister to SUPERIOR.
CHARLES MARTIN STABLES
Charlie Martin of Murfreesboro, Tennessee has a well-rounded string of horses and is presently working about 30 head.
A very promising two-year-old is GO BOY’ S TIGER, owned by Raymond Baker. A chestnut colt by EBONY MASTERPIECE owned by Buddy Moore is exciting to watch. James Hollis and Charlie own a nice bay filly by SPIRIT OF MIDNIGHT.
In the three-year-old department is SUN’ S MIS DEMEANOR, a fine mare owned by Gene Jordon. Sammy Day has a three-year-old stud named EB ONY’ S BLACK SON that is terrific. RED WARRIOR B. is going to be a threat in three-year-old classes. He is a big sorrel stud owned by Herman Barrett.
Charlie is working a good four-year-old for Jim Pullins. In the aged classes, he will be showing GRAND MASTER for owner Sam Lassater. This horse has improved and should have a good season. Angie Martin, Charlie’ s wife, is now the local representative for the Hartford Insurance Company.
