Wink Groover captured his fourth and final blue ribbon of the 1968 Celexration with another impressive showing on ACE’ S SENSA­ TION. Wink and his horse were the choice or the judges straight across the cards emphasizing the soundness of their triumph. The reserve lie went to SUN’ S CHAPARRAL and John T. Carter, making it the second year in a row that John T. had tied reserve in the Junior class. Last year John T. and WARLOCK were Reserve Junior Champions. TWO-YEAR-OLD WALKING HORSE CHAMPIONSHIP STAKE
Ronnie Spears and GUNSMOKE’ S FIREBALL went after the title with a great ride and came away with the nod of the judges and the roar of the 25,237 final night horse fans. Total attendance for the 1968 show was close to 14,000 below last year’ s crowd but still went over the 100,000 mark with 109,457 people attending during the nine nights. Reserve award went to Dickie Pate and EBONY’ S OLD CHARTER. Dickie and his horse were back in form after an off night earlier in the week and he provided a strong challenge to Ronnie and his horse. JUDGES’ CHOICE and MISTER REE. earlier two-year-old preliminary class winners, did not show back in the championship.

Lynn Doughty and SETTING SUN ' S APOLLO put on a great show to win the Pony Championship of 1968. This beautiful pony showed three solid gaits, conformation and true show horse qualities in winning the title. Lynn and her horse will be fitting champions of this breed. Reserve tie went to Larry Martin on ECHO ' S LITTLE MAN. Larry’ s pony battled all the way and never quit in an effort to win the title. Third place was awardedtoMILLIONAIRE GO B05 and David Cagle. This up-and-coming team did a great job against top competition.
