WISCONSIN STAGES FOURTH ANNUAL ALL WALKING HORSE SHOW
The fourth annual Wisconsin All-Walking Horse Show is now a thing of the past , and the great time and effort put into it paid off . Bill Kuehl was the capable show chairman , and he assembled a conscentious and hard-working committee , with Gloria Pickhardt in the key position of secretary ', assisted by Val Edwards . John Woolman deserves credit as the hard-working stable chairman , as do John Krumm , prize list ; Jeff Baum , trophies and ribbons ; Leo Baum , publicity ; Fran Lynn and Larry Pickhardt , communications .
Bob Cherry came up from Centerville , Tennessee to do an excellent job of tying the thirteen classes . John Marshall was announcer . Bob Keller the ringmaster , and Polly Knoll of Beaver Dam the fine photographer . Dr . Anderson served as the official veterinarian .
Taking the Weanling Class blue wasSUNDUST PER FECTION , owned by Mrs . Darlene Dietz , handled by Art Titus . GO GO BOY was second , owned and handled by Gene Losee . An EBONY MASTERPIECE filly , EBONY ’ S SUMMER SATIN , won the Yearling Class , handled by Phillip Yoss , Hinckley , Illinois . Bill and Suzy Kuehl ’ s HEATHER GO BOY was second , handled by Sharon Torreano .
In the hotly contested Amateur class , coming out on top was Phil Krueger of Milwaukee on INVASION ’ S BIG BOY for Permanent Construction Co . SHADOW OF 1CHABOD was second for Leo Baum and River Tree Farm .
DIAMOND JIM was the Two-Year-Old Halter Class winner for Mr . and Mrs . Ed Moran of Brookfield , with Ed McCoy the handler . PRETTY BOY , owned by John McConnell of Woodstock , Illinois , topped the Model Class . He was handled by Gene Losee . Second was WATCH ME , owned and handled by Nancy Kiefert . Sharon Torreano of Brookfield won the Walking Seat Equitation with Peter Gavin taking reserve .
Receiving a beautiful trophy , as well as the tremendous Marvin Shields Memorial Traveling Trophy , was A1Y SECRET DELIGHT , Bob Gilmore up for the Mel Norman Stables of Battle Creek , Michigan , in the Junior Class . SHADOW ’ S RHYTHM BOY was second , Jacquie Hanley in the irons for George McGilvra . IN VASION ’ S BIG BOY took his second blue of the day in the Ladies Class , Nancy Noeske of Milwaukee doing the job for Permanent Construction Co . Pam Norman was in second place on PIDDLEY ’ SHANDSHAKer for Mel Norman Stables .
Another Mel Norman horse , a really big-striding two-year-old named SUPER DELIGHT , walked to the winner ’ s circle for the blue in the two-year-old class , Bob Gilmore up . DIAMOND JIM was next for Pat and Ed Moran , Ed McCoy in the saddle . Dr . Gordon Gavin rode his SUNDUST LAZY BOY to the blue in the Senior Pleasure Class , with the red going to Joe Surinak on SUNDAY SOX . The Juvenile class was an exciting one , and well deserving the blue was Rick Oudenhoven on the good MIGHTY GO BOY , owned by Dr . and Mrs . R . C . Oudenhoven of Green Bay . Karen Baum was a good second on MIDNIGHT LADY L . for Bernadette Ruckdashel .
Climaxing the show was the big Open Class , with the huge , beautiful VOICE CHALLENGE TROPHY as well as a permanent trophy being awarded to the winner , SILVER SCANDAL , with Bob Gilmore doing a fine job for the Mel Norman Stables . Leo Baum and SHADOW OF ICHABOD were reserve .
