SOLITUDE STOCK FARM
This beautiful spread just outside Nashville in Goodlettsville, Tennessee is truly one of the real show places of the breed. H. L. Worrell is the owner of Solitude and he recently informed us of a major sale out of his farm.
DELIGHT DANDY was purchased by Stoney Lonesome Farms owned by Eleanor Grove in Hamilton, Ohio. This fine two-year-old chestnut stud is one of the highest-priced horses for his age ever to be sold. He was shown and sold by trainer Fred Brake.
DELIGHT DANDY will be trained by Doug Smith and James Grove at the farm in Ohio.
Mr. Worrell extended an open invitation to those interested in horses to visit his farm and check over his stock.
PIERCE JOINS BIG TALK FARMS
We recently learned from Douglas Cagle, ownermanager of Big Talk Farms in Atlanta, Georgia, that he has acquired the services of Alton B.( Junior) Pierce in a training capacity. Junior is well-known throughout the show horse world and is recognized as a capable trainer, judge and horseman: in business for several years, Big Talk Farms has been showing a lot of open and amateur horses with great success. Their stable operation was built around GO BOY’ S BIG TALK, a horse with an established reputation several years ago and from this fine start they have done very well. Mr. Cagle, an accomplished horseman in his own right, is also an executive with a chicken processing company and can probably use the assistance that Mr. Pierce can obviously give him. Junior Pierce is best known for his activities several years ago with a top stallion named TOM DOOLEY. Together they took on and defeated almost all of the top competitors in the country. We hope to see Junior get back into the big-time and bring Big Talk Farms to the top in the Walking Horse world.
MACK K’ S HANDSHAKER GOES TO CIRCLE A RANCH
It became known several weeks before the Celebration that there would be some changes made in the breeding arrangements of MACK K’ S HANDSHAKER, the 1960 World’ s Grand Champion. Purchased by Frank Talbot and William Fickling in 1965, HAND SHAKER had been well received by southern breeders at the Fickling Rivoli Farm in Macon, Georgia. Management, however, was a problem during the sixmonth period that he stood in Macon, and during the Celebration it was revealed that he would stand the 1969 season at the Circle A Ranch in Sandersville, Georgia, home of the Gene Adams Walking Horse Stables. Mr. Adams, a well known and respected horseman with years of experience, will manage the breeding activities of HANDSHAKER next season. He will be assisted by Mr. Roger Hand, an Auburn graduate with considerable experience in the breeding field. Anyone interested in booking for the 1969 season can call Gene Adams, Sandersville, Georgia, 912 / 552-2292. The fee is still $ 200.00. No announcement has been made as yet regarding the agreement to stand HANDSHAKER part of the year at Wolaver Stables in Cornersville, Tennessee. More on this later!
AUXIER FARMS
Auxier Farms, one of the newer Ohio stables, is located east of Cincinnati at Batavia. The thirty head of registered Tennessee Walking Horses are in the capable hands of Jay Cobb, who came to Batavia a year and a half ago after having worked with Bobby McQuerry at Claude Brown Stables.
SHADOW’ S KING BEE, a truly spectacular threeyear-old stallion, has captured the hearts of spectators and judges alike. Although conceding a year’ s age and experience, he decisively captured the blue in the large junior stake at Dayton, Ohio. Previously he had claimed the reserve spot in a field of twenty-two junior horses at Cincinnati.
BOMBARDIER’ S HAINT, a two-year-old stallion, has proven himself one of the top two-year-olds in the Ohio-Kentucky circuit. Never tied out of the money, this exciting youngster already has four blues and several reds in his collection.
TOP CAT, the Auxiers’ aged stud, is one of the seasoned pros on the circuit. Always turning in a sterling performance, he consistently accounts for his fair share of top ribbons in open and stake classes.
Launching a promising career in correct fashion is WELLS SHADY LADY. This two-year-old brought home the blue on her first attempt just a short time ago.

One of the newest and nicest training facilities in the country is located in Cleveland, Mississippi. This new stable is appropriately named Delta Valley Stables and is owned by Alvin Roberts of Cleveland.
Alvin has hired John Stroud to train his stock and John is certainly doing a good job. The barn is an upto-date training facility with 37 stalls. Living quarters and a lounge are included to make this stable one of the nicer ones to visit. The operation has been open about four months and already 32 horses are in training. The stable is planning to show at all of the Deep South shows this year.
SUN’ S CRIMSON TIDE, by MIDNIGHT SUN out of a GO BOY mare, is standing at Delta Valley. John says he also plans to show this horse at some shows.
