the Juvenile Class on GO BOY ’ S BLACK BARON . Jan has shown all over the country but still seems to get a thrill with each new blue ribbon . A terrific competitor in every class , Jan is certainly one of the best young riders ever to show Walking Horses . The reserve tie went to Cathy Ellis riding JET ’ S REBEL ROUSER . Cathy never let up in her effort for the blue ribbon and made a good ride by any standard . ( Editor ’ s note : Cathy is a contributing editor for the VOICE from Mississippi .) The third place tie went to SUN STREAK ’ S TAR BABY with Ann Robertson up . The Junior Championship was won by the great mare , GO BOY ’ S BRENDA LEE . with Neil Robinson in the saddle . This horse was just recently purchased by Mr . and Mrs . Barry Saunders of Germantown , Tennessee at the Sale of Champions during the Celebration . BRENDA LEE also won the Junior Mare Class earlier in the week as a qualifying event . Reserve champion was STATELY ’ S PRESTIGE with Joe Martin doing the riding . This horse tied sixth in the junior division at the Celebration this year and has proven that he can go with the best . The third aw ' ard went to EBONY ’ S BOOSTER , Buddy Black up .
The Tw ' o-Year-Old Stake saw Mack Motes and his highly regarded SHADOW ’ S ROYAL FLUSH repeat their victory '’ in the stallion preliminary class with an even better performance . Mack ’ s horse injured his rear leg entering the ring for the stallion preliminary and it was doubtful if he would show back . He did , and he won .
Richard Pate had his horse in the thick of the battle all the way before tying reserve on EBONY ’ S OLD CHARTER . OLD CHARTER is one of the best twovear-olds in the country and will win many more blues before his show days are over The third place winner ” T ISSA ’ S DAYBREAK and Wink Groover . Wink ’ s colt won the Two-Year-Old Filly Class at this show but could not upset the favorites in the championship .
Other blue ribbon winners at the Mississippi Championship Show were GO BOY ’ S DIXIE FLYER in the Yearline Class ; Barbie Suggs won the honors in the Equitation Class ; GO BOY ’ S LITTLE SHOT in the Weanling Class ; and SOCK IT TO ME GO BOY and Woody Marks in the Juvenile Under 13 Class .
Doug Wolaver won the Aged Mare Class with GO BOY ’ S LADY ANN and the Aged Gelding Class with GO BOY ’ S BLACK BARON . Doug also won the Three- Year-Old Mare Class on HANDSHAKER ’ S LADY KIM .
Beth Gaillard of Meridian won the Amateur Owned and Ridden Mare Class aboard MOON MIST , a fine horse with plenty of motion and ability .

honors over the years . The Mississippi State Championship Show enjoyed one of its finest shows ever and it is a tribute to the hard-working and gracious show committee who always seem to go that extra mile .
