DIXIE HIGHWAY—FRANKLIN, OHIO Delaware and the early Columbus Show are over and we are looking forward to the Cincinnati Show which is to be judged by Mr. George Henson and should be a first-class show, as usual. We are having weather to match and outdoor work is possible in this beautiful spring weather. We stopped and visited with Jack Gilkey and Mrs. Good of Athens, Ohio and he should have top stock this year. The Haines have a nice new mare and, with Rita Crane’s mare, they should make the amateur classes more interesting. We saw Mr. and Mrs. Jim Baldwin at Delaware and at Columbus. He is sure working some top stock as usual and that big sorrel horse sure put on a per formance at Columbus. We had him tied at the top in his class. Evan Williams and Bill Atkinson of Rey noldsburg, Ohio are working some fresh young horses and shaping up their show string again. We had a nice visit with the Herman Ingrams at Washington Court House. The black horse makes a nice addition to his stable and this makes the second black stallion that he is working that is by MIGHTY BOY, owned by Elroy Mallard of Georgetown, Ky. We stopped at Patterson Stables just after the Col umbus show. Debbie has a new stallion by SHADOW that really rares up in front and walks a hole in the ground. In the amateur class at Columbus she made a faultless show and it looked like you could put four or five horses between her and the next best horse. Patterson Stables of Miamisburg, Ohio has Tom Cottle up at the reins and they are doing well. Dunaway Stable of Miamisburg has Tom helping them with a real walking two-year-old blue roan stal lion by MIDNIGHT SUN. The Dunaways are also working a SUN’S DELIGHT stallion which is equally good, and one is hard-pressed to tell the better horse. These horses are top stock and wre should see more of them in the future. We hear that Douglas Sparks of Tollesboro, Kentucky has recently built a stable called Pine Valley Stable. He should be a welcome addition to that area for- training and selling horses. We wish to thank Mrs. Douglas Sparks for keeping us informed of Kentucky news. Jay Cobb of Batavia, Ohio is working a promising two-year-old owned by William Auxier. 24- F-airgrounds in‘ ^en^olfnt of enthusiasm with a show, There is a awards 0f the best performance a trail ride, , lanned in the first few meetings. °f the year already , committee was formed In ihe m eSabllsh a list of judges who should know to try to es and who have the integrity to ho'v Correctly It has been said that an honest judge judge corr y by as a mule in foal, but we are going to try to prove this false, and establish a guide fVio fntiirft C.
