we have three groups in the Walking Horse business who are subject to our rules. These are:( 1) Exhibitors- both professionals and amateurs;( 2) Horse Show Managers; and( 3) Judges. If we are to achieve the high standards we all seek for this breed we must
make every effort to see that the prescribed rules are followed.
We would like to point out the following infractions which seem to be most common:
( 1) Judges working horses only one way of the ring in a workout;( 2) Exhibitors receiving assistance from outside the ring without being charged with a time out;( 3) Horses being allowed to enter the ring after the judge has called for the first gait;( 4) Stallions being shown in Ladies’ Amateur Classes;( 5) Three-, four- and five-year-olds being shown in two-year-old classes;( 6) Horses measuring over 14.2 hands being shown in Walking Pony classes;( 7) Young trainers,
who work horses for money, showing in Amateur, Juvenile and Pony classes;( 8) Changing boots in the showring; and( 9) Allowing too much time for a single time out( seven minutes is the limit)...., We ve got rules... let’ s follow ' em. If we don’ t like em, let’ s change ' em! Until then, follow the ones we have.
