ANNUAL HEART OF AMERICA AWARDS The Heart of America Walking Horse Association held its annual awards dinner and election of officers February 25 in Clinton, Missouri. The dinner was ex cellent and a crowd of over two hundred was present for the event. This association does an excellent job of promoting Walking Horses and inproving the shows in the mid west. There was a total of 51 shows that met all the requirements for points to be given. The awards were earned by accumulation of points with ribbons won throughout the year of 1967. The high-point horse of the year was SUN’S ROCK- AWAY BOMBER, owned and shown by Herbert Mouse of Adrian, Mo. BOMBER had 252 points that he accu mulated in the amateur class. He was shown by Mr. Mouse at 43 shows. He’s quite a little horse! This was the third year that BOMBER had won this honor and he retired the challenge trophy, as well as receiving the hundred dollars that went with the award. Officers for the year of 1968 were also elected: Mr. Barkley Brock of Clinton was re-elected president; C. L. LeDuc of Springfield is vice president; and Alice Harden of Carrollton is once again secretary-treasur er. The association is run by a fifteen-member Board of Directors. Each year five new members are elected. This year the new members are: Carl Elges, Clinton; Harry Park, Richmond; Bill Conway and Lionel Lear, Bolivar; and Louis Sloan, Dixon. SUN'S ANTONIO 612065...A Rising Young Star PI * J iy m nt ^ I \ SIRE: MIDNIGHT SUN 410751 : \ This young stallion, a full brother to SUN’S GUN- SMOKE, is rapidly making his mark on the breeding world with such force that he seems destined to be one of the greatest breeding stallions of this era. Barred from a promising career in the show ring by a 'eS injury, the get of SUN'S ANTONIO are now bringing him the recognition he so richly deserves. In his two years at stud being bred to an extremely limited number of mares, he has produced MID- NIGHT’S SHADOWETTE, third place winner in the Weanling Filly Class at the 1966 National Celebra tion and MIDNIGHT SENORITA, the reserve cham pion weanling filly at the 1967 Celebration. His first colts are now under saddle and they are sensational.
